what do you mean narrow the vowel??
i´m so confuse..
What I mean by narrowing the vowel is changing it to: i, ý, ü, u.
Here´s some info on vowel classification according to Manisa Turkish website:
(A) According to the position of tongue and exit.
- Thick vowels: a, ý, o, u.
- Thin vowels: e, i, ö, ü.
(B) According to the lips positioning.
- Straight vowels: a, e, ý, i.
- Rounded vowels: o, ö, u, ü.
(C) According to the mouth opening.
- Wide Vowels: a, e, o, ö.
- Narrow vowels: ý, i, u, ü.
So when you conjugate a verb in the Present Continuous time, different sources will explain differently what happens when you add the suffix -yor to a verb stem that ends in a vowel.
Some sources will say to:
- drop a vowel
For example:
beklemek: bekle-mek; bekle-; bekl-
yemek: ye-mek; ye-; y-
- add -iyor (according to vowel harmony)
bekl-iyor; bekliyor
y-iyor; yiyor
Others will say to:
- narrow the vowel (according to vowel harmony)
beklemek: bekle-mek; bekle-; bekli-
yemek: ye-mek; ye-; yi-
- add - yor
bekli-yor; bekliyor
yi-yor; yiyor
The end result is the same, I guess it´s up to you which way is easier to understand.
In your post here, you had a couple of words which needed the vowels "narrowed"
izleyorum - izliyorum
çalýþmayorlar - çalýþmýyorlar
That´s why I said to pay attention to that.
I hope this helped, if you have any additional questions, feel free to ask.
