I confess now that I could swear they were fools when they awarded O.Pamuk (2006 literature prize)
Hmmm I have to agree - he may not be the best author in Turkey but at least he can claim to be the most popular (worldwide)!!!

btw, keep your racism accusations for your own fellow citizens, we are not familiar with the context of white oppression in America. you`re being as funny as those jews who accuse anyone criticizing Israel of "antisemitism".
Sometimes, I like you....I REALLY LIKE YOU! Can I take you to lunch?

I wish there was life on Mars and I was from that lovely planet, but unfortunatelly not.My blood is as red as yours. I have no antennas on head, nor my ears are like Mr.Spock´s from Star Trek.Like it or not you share this planet with me. In general what you all say is true but this doesn´t mean things will be same as ever before.Everything changes. You will see things changed from worst to worse,if not from worse to bad.United States needs to change its image. Let´s say he is not elected but selected by the hidden powers on purpose to change the United States´ bad image among the third world countries, even this proves that something will change in the next years. I don´t think Nobel committee consists of fools. It is clear that they awarded Obama based on expectations...in order to encourage him for his attendance...
As i said you are being from mars is just a hope like the hope that Obama wont mislead those not fool Nobel committee. You havent got my point

...Okay, I get that people don´t agree with Obama getting the price, but it´s not SUCH a big deal. Do people actually remember all the people who have gotten this price in the past? We only remember the ones we already knew from other stuff.

That Obama hardly had time to deserve a peace prize in the Office is correct, but not the main concern. The main concern is that Nobel Prize, as a Western institution, may be a total farce.
So, what else may be rotten in the Western Kingdom?

...okay, what did Obama do to deserve this price?
He reduced high tensions that were felt worldwide. After Bush was kicked out of office, the current administration in the U.S. has opened talks again with a lot of nations that they didn´t talk to before. Talking is always a first step to peace. Yes, there are still troops active world-wide, but it´s totally not logical to expect somebody to retreat all troops in one day. This is not possible, and not constructive. Second, the whole laser high tech satelite anti-rocket shield isn´t an issue anymore, since Obama is president. Third, he has inspired a lot of people that you can fight the odds, and you can get what you want if you go for it, struggle for it.
He didn´t get the price for nothing. You can disagree with the reasons, but you cannot say that the committee just liked the sound of the name Obama and give the price for that reason.
