Stumpy, I´m sorry for your ordeal, nobody should have to suffer such an ordeal, however, you are not the only person who has suffered sexual attack. Just because you were raped does not make you an expert on the issue. Rather, I would suspect it didn´t, due to your explosively emotional reaction to the matter. Still, my condolences to you in this matter. Hopefully the emotioal trauma will lessen in time.

We should not over look the fact it doesn´t only happen to women, it also happens to men by men or women and women by women. It is a hideous crime, one of dominence, not sexuality. In males it´s even more tragic, as the body too many times betrays the will of the victim. Bodies sort of act on auto pilot. Push this button, that happens....leaving deep feelings of guilt and shame.

Rape statistics  only a very small percentage are ever reported.

It is better to be aware that such things happen and not fall into a false sense of security. Instead, institute defensive actions. I suggest studying Aikido....or some martial art.

I only have one last reply to give:

Until the day you as a woman knows what it is to be raped by a man I suggest you think before saying things to another woman.  When I was raped I did not see what ethnic group the man was from, he was a man who took something from me that did not belong to him.

God forbid you ever get raped TheAnigmabut if you do, I hope to god that you will recover from that agression.  A 15 year old girl does not need to suffer that way, to be humiliated and destroyed in that way.  To be used for an act of selfgratification by a man who´s action is so cruel it cannot be discribed.  I was lucky that I was not killed by that man.  The authorities never caught the man in question and he has raped others too.

So say what you want about me I have indured more than you think and it is not your words that will hurt me the most.

Oh and FYI I am French and I don´t give a flying leap if I do not speak English as well as your non-native english

I know several forms of martial arts and self defense and also had training with several diffrent types of weapons.  And yes not only women are sexually assaulted.  for some people the subject of rape is a very sensitive subject and many people do not realise this.

With respect, I do not think there is anyone who does not consider it to be a sensitive subject.

I´m sorry Stumpy about what happened to you.. I wish that women stuck together and fought patriarchy and male domination.. otherwise our suffering will not end.

The problem of this thread is that it was taking an East-Turkey turn again. The first case that I heard of, of rape in Turkey, was a case of 15 years ago which I heard about on the news. Since that time I am afraid to go in a taxi in Turkey by myself. Three Dutch and on Georgian women shared a taxi, but the taxi-driver took them somewhere else, where a group of men were waiting for them. The women were raiped, and strangled or their throats slit. The Georgian woman and one Dutch woman died. Her body was thrown off a cliff. The other two women were left for dead, but they were actually still alive. They could identify one of the rapists. This all happened in Alanya, not somewhere in the far far East, and all the men involved where Turkish, not Kurds. The issue here is not East-Turkey, or men versus women. The issue here are disgusting people. Horrible people, who ruin somebody, and damage something that can never be fixed. It´s not the body that suffers the most in these cases, its the mind. You destroy a bit of a person´s personality.

I am not an ethnocentric who thinks Turks are all good and all other nations are horrible. There are good ones and bad ones in all societies. However, It is true that mostly Kurdish people work in the seashores, especaially in Alanya.

Are you really "western"?  And English speaking? :S

Typical racist....How sad !

If you are not "Western" and can not "speak English", you are a cannibal. That you have  recently started using knives an forks during dinners can not be considered an advance step towards civilisation !

We all know what you have boiling in that pot !
