but here is "the surgeons called me...they..."
Noooo!  - this was the sentence ´The doctors surgery called me´ - meaning ´the surgery (clinic/office) belonging to/of the doctor´ (singular - it should be ´doctor´s´ and using ´they´ is quite normal here in English it just means the surgery and you can´t say ´he/she/it´ for the surgery - has to be ´they´. further on in the sentence she says something like ´I have to see the doctor this evening´ - I´m sure he/she´s not a surgeon just a good old British GP!
