Quoting tomac

I´m not sure but I think that there is a little mistake in the last sentence in the 5th post:

It seems that imperative form is used here - "do not think" - so probably it should be "sanma", not "sanmıyorum" ("I do not think").

 zannetme !

Both are possible. No mistake in the translation. Actually, I would translate it just as he did.

My translation would be like this:

Beklememi isteyebilirsin; ama sonsuza kadar bekleyebileceğimi sanmıyorum.

Another one :

Beklememi isteyebilirsin; ama sanma ki sonsuza kadar beklerim.

´´zannetme´´ or ´´sanma´´ ? No need to argue on that. Both are perfectly correct/acceptable.

Not correct

Both words refer to expressing an opinion or holding a belief, not supported by positive proof."Zannetmek" however is closer to "knowing" than "sanmak".

Example

Ali Venüsde beyaz ayı bulunmadığını zannediyor.

Veli Venüsde beyaz ayı bulunmadığını sanıyor.

Temel Venusde beyaz ayı bulunduğunu sanıyor.

In the three sentences above, opinions of three different persons on an identical and spesific issue are expressed.

While they can each be right or wrong in their respective opinions, the difference is that while Ali´s opinion is based on some kind of observation, calculation, research or a generally wider knowledge of the subject (though it may well be proven to be wrong in the end), Veli´s and Temel´s opinions (whether they are proven to be right or wrong in the end) stem solely from their respectve ignorances of the subject, with no credible study, research or philosophical basis behind them.
