sagol but this causative thing is doing my head in
Get ready for more headache!
I wish it was only causative, but unfortunately it is also factitive thing and the two languages behave very differently:
Examples for Turkish factitive structures:
köpeği öldürdüler = they killed the dog
Çocuğu güldürdün = you made the child laugh
Eteğini kısalttı = a)she shortened her skirt b) she made her skirt short
In English, for Turkish factitive verbs, you use either independent verbs or causative verbs such as let and make.
Examples for Turkish causative structures:
Onu muayene ettirttim = I made her be examined
Ayşe, Ali´ye kendisini lokantaya götürttü = Ayşe made Ali take her to a restaurant
For Turkish causative structures, you use causative verbs such as have, make, get and let.
