BİRLEŞİK FİİLLER (Compound verbs)
1 Yeterlilik fiili (A verb of ability)
a+bil(mek), e+bil(mek) =can (This is used for possibilities too.)
If the last vowel of a verb is a back vowel (a,ı,o,u) it must be abil(mek)
If the last vowel of a verb is a front vowel (e,i,ö,ü ) it must be ebil(mek)
I can run = koşabilirim (ability)
I can come = gelebilirim (possibility)

2 Tezlik fiili (A verb of quickness)
This means doing something rapidly or suddenly.
one of these (ı,i,u,ü ) + ver(mek)
If the last vowel of the verb is a,ı=ı , e,i=i , o,u=u , ö,ü=ü
eg onu yazıverdim = I wrote it quickly (I scribbled it down)
Arkadaşım kapıda görünüverdi. = My friend appeared suddenly at the door.
Onu kaldırıverelim = Let´s quickly remove it
Köprü çöküverdi = The bridge suddenly collapsed.
İçkisini içiverdi = He gulped down his drink.
3 Süreklilik fiili (A verbs of continuity)
This is done in two forms.
A) The action is continuous.
one of –a, -e and one of dur(mak), kal(mak), gel(mek).
Uyuyakaldım = I slept and did not get up. I stayed asleep
gidedurdu = He went without stopping.
süregeldi = It continued without stopping. It kept coming
B) The action is done over again without stopping.
–ıp, -ip, -up, -üp dur(mak), kal(mak), gel(mek)
Konuşup durdu = He spoke without stopping his speech.
Gidip durdu = He went without stopping.
Sürüp geldi = It continued without stopping.
Bu masal yıllardır bu yörede anlatılagelir.
This tale has been told in this area continuously for years.
4 Yaklaşma Fiili (A verb of imminence)
It would nearly/almost happen, but it did not happen.
-e or -a + yaz(mak)
öleyazdım = I would nearly die.
Düşeyazdı = He would nearly fall.
Ayağım taşa takılınca, (az kalsın) düşeyazdım. When my foot got caught on a rock I very nearly fell (az kalsın = almost)
5 Beklenmezlik Fiili (a verb of unexpectedness/improbability)
For unexpected or unlikely things.
eceği or acağı + tutmak
Gideceği tuttu. =She wanted to go (at an unexpected time)
Yazacağı tuttu. =He wanted to write (at an unexpected time)
