Hello everyone after 3 years of not logging in! I decided to start with my turkish lessons all over again as I forgot most of what I knew. I am glad to see you all again and I want you to please correct my sentences . Please don´t consider turkish characters:

"Her name is Dilek. She is 19 years old. She lives in Ankara . She wants to visit South America and learn spanish . Dilek´s brother´s name is Ahmet. He is 30 years old. Her mom is Nice but her father is very serious and doesn´t speak much "

My attempt :

" Adi Dilek. O 19 yasinda. Ankara´da yasiyor. Guney Amerika´yi ziyaret etmek ve Ispanyolca ogrenmek istiyor ( I know there is a suffix -IP to " join two verbs or actions that go together, how could I apply that here?) . Dilek´inin kardesi adi  Ahmet. (pretty sure I am missing something here) O 30 yasinda . Annesi guzel ama babasi çok ağırbaşlı ve çok  konusmaz ".

Onceden tesekkurler!

(pretty sure I am missing something here) O 30 yasinda . Annesi guzel (hoş) ama babasi çok ağırbaşlı (ciddi) ve çok  konusmaz "

"Dileğin" şeklinde ayrılmadan yazılması gerekmiyor muydu ?

in proper nouns there is no k - ğ changing

for example

dileğ´in kardeşinin adı ahmet.

in this sentence dileğ´in is writen wrongly.

it must me Dilek´in

k-ğ changing in proper nouns is not used in writing language

but in spoken language k-ğ changing is right.

Thank you so much for your help and corrections. I really appreciate it a lot and yes, you are right, I am very focused on learning turkish eventhough it is so challenging... after 3 years I forgot most of it but I am willing to make it better and better...now regarding my mistakes :

So , the right one is DILEK´IN or Dileg´in as someone of you wrote? , Actually I checked some old notes and in my writings it said that for example Mehmet´s is in writing MEHMED´IN so I must understand then that Proper nouns do not change when written?

And also the possessive/genitive case so it is suffix -IN with the possessor and -I with the possessed item , right? but what happnens if you have many cases of ´s in one sentence like " Elif ´s mother´s brother´s car is green " (exaggerated I know but just to know ) or for example " Elif ´s family´s house isn´t theirs"

Thank you so much for helping me again,glad to see you all  as I said,

Dilara.

Dileğ´in reflects how we say it as there is k to ğ mutation when a word ending with k added a suffix starting with a consonant (probably you know it). Maybe it´s better to write it as Dilek´in to not change the way it is written. I don´t know the exact rule for this one and I don´t have a grammer book around to check. But many times you may run into "Dileğ´in" form as well.

Mehmet -> Mehmet´in/Mehmed´in

Recep -> Recep´in/Receb´in

Ufuk -> Ufuk´un/Ufuğ´un

etc.

I wonder if the next step is getting rid of apostrophe and putting an end to the kingdom of proper names:

Zonguldağa gittim ama Karabüğü görmedim.{#emotions_dlg.lol}

Come on si++, I can´t believe you ´don´t know the exact rule for that one´.Wink
