Selam,

A Turkish person said to me in written language ´iyiyim, sen nasilsin?´ so i replied ´ben de iyiyim, tesekkurler´. He told me i should have said ´bende´ not ´ben de´. I have seen on this site that it was written as ´ben de´ so i´m confused now. Can someone please explain this to me.

it´s "Ben de". if you use the suffix "de" as a noun state, then it should have been "bende". for example

- Telefonum nerede? (Where is my phone)

- Telefonun Evde (it´s at home.)

this is a noun state expression and suffix de should be written as attached to word.

-Seni seviyorum

- Ben de seviyorum

this isn´t a noun state and you express you are also doing the verb. in this case "sevmek".

A quick guide for which one is used in which case, when you delete the suffix "de" if sentence is still valid and regular then "de" should be written seperately, if sentence is being broken then you should use it as a suffix. let´s look at the exapmles above and delete "de"

"Telefonum ev" This is a broken sentence and has no meaning.

"Ben seviyorum" is a regular and still gramatically correct. then in this sentence, "de" should be written seperately. Remember noun state de is written as suffix and attached to word. actullay lots of original turkish speakers and writes makes mistakes on that issue too.

There are so many stupid natives who dont know anything about Turkish grammar but act like they know it. So please dont accept easily what you heart from someone and ask it to a person who has knowleedge about Turkish grammar.

Maybe he was drunk or something and didn´t know what he was talking about.

 Maybe he was kinda in a state of unconsciousness by a trauma at the time.. Speculations to be continued .....

I start feeling sorry for that guy who is not knowing what is being said about him on TC 

He must be happy...he is famous now  What should we call him? Mr.de? Any better idea?

I dont think being famous in this way will make Mr.de or Mr.dede happy..
