I have just started another Turkish course and thought I might post some basic exercises I was given, and then give my answers and any explanations

This exercise is about matching descriptions to pictures, but unfortunately I can´t show you the pictures.

İnceleyelim (let´s study)

1 Sarışın, sevimli bir kız. Yüzü çilli. Üzerinde çizgili bir tişört var. 

A girl is blond and cute. her face was speckled.
above the or (she dressed a T SHIRT)

MY TRY ,by using dictianry sometimes

Sarışın, sevimli bir kız.

A cute blonde girl.

That sentence had no verbs, it was just a description. Note the other adjectives precede the word ´bir´, so the meaning is ´a´. If ´bir´ was at the start (before the other adjectives), then the meaning would be ´one´. You can also recognise ´sarı´ (yellow) in the word for blonde.

Yüzü çilli.

Her face is freckled.

The possessive suffıx ´u´ tells us that the face belongs to someone, and from the previous sentence we can deduce it must be ´her´ face, because we saw ´girl´ written. The sentence could also be written as Onun yüzü çillidir and the meaning is identical. The ´dir´ suffix is often left off in daily usage, but still used on official signs. (.... yasaktır = it is forbidden to ....)  Çil means freckle with humans. Çil+ li (with) = with freckles, freckled

Üzerinde çizgili bir tişört var.

She has a striped t-shirt on top.

Var means there is/are but because the sentence is describing the same girl, we say she has. Çizgi means stripe. 

2 Genç bir adam. Elleri arkasında yürüyor. Biraz düşünceli ve mutsuz görünüyor.

Elleri arkasında yürüyor.

He is walking with his hands behind his back.

Biraz düşünceli ve mutsuz görünüyor.

He seems a little worried and unhappy.

3 Takım elbiseli bir bey. O bıyıklı ve sakallı. Elinde bir şemsiye var.

Takım elbiseli bir bey.

A gentleman in a suit. A suited gentleman.

O bıyıklı ve sakallı.

He is with a moustache and beard.

Elinde bir şemsiye var.

He has an umbrella in his hand.

Note the constructıon of in his hand

el (hand) + i (possessive suffix for his/her/its) + n (buffer letter) + de (suffix for in/on/at) = elinde

(benim) elimde = in/on my hand

(senin) elinde = in/on my hand (el + in + de)

(onun) elinde = in/on his/her hand,

If we did not have a previous reference, we would need to say onun elinde to clarify the sentence.

4 Kısa saçlı ve kısa pantolonlu bir çocuk. Elinde bir top var. Çok yaramaz görünüyor.

Kısa saçlı ve kısa pantolonlu bir çocuk.

A child with short hair and (with) short pants

Elinde bir top var.

He has a ball in his hand

Çok yaramaz görünüyor.

He appears very naughty

5 Kırvırcık saçlı, zayıf bir kız. Bir sırt çantası var ve elinde kitap taşıyor. Galiba üniversite öğrencisi.

A girl with crely hair ,she is thin ,she have a back bag and holds a book she is seems a universty student.

Your main elements are correct Nifrtity, but as you realise, your English needs help.

Kırvırcık saçlı, zayıf bir kız.

A slim girl with curly hair.

Bir sırt çantası var ve elinde kitap taşıyor.

She has a backpack and is carrying a book in her hand.

 Galiba üniversite öğrencisi(dir)

It looks like she is a university student 

In English we use ´backpack´ for a bag that we wear on our back to carry things.

Galiba means ´it looks like, it seems´. Here ´it looks like´ fits better. In English we could also say ´she looks like a university student´ or ´she seems to be a university student´. (O üniversite öğrencisine benziyor?? is my attempt at the Turkish)
