merhaba MrX67,

I think... if not, many upcoming countries (whether of 3rd world, EU new entries or war torn countries) tried to preserve what's left from their forefathers & foremothers (I still wonder why there's no word for 'Foreparents'.) It's up to us to preserve what's left for future generations...

What Sophie & k_georgia said of higher expenses in Istanbul is unavoidable. It happened to every nations. Each day, daily necessities increased..eg. petroleum/petrol/benzine that humans depend on so much that's major contribution to such increment... Is the right time to adopt alternative energy resources that are free!

Also, due to such high living standards, many people tend to forget their roots and start to destroy their own culture & heritage for the sake of developement and of course $$$... It's sad to say, this situation happened in my own country. That's why, I'm involve in the preservation of my island. It's a NGO/Non-profit organisation trying our best to teach people to apprieciate culture & heritage which are dying each day... particularly younger generations. Through young children, we hope they can instill the love for their country, culture & heritage to their family and their future generations.

No doubt, we had been ignored and doors slammed on our face by ignorant people - who inherited large mansions or buildings full of histories but sold it off to be replaced by concrete blocks! I do hope Turki (that's what my Malay language for Turkey) will uphold their beautiful land for generations to come... and for others to enjoy her beauty! I'm still waiting the chance to touch down the soil of Turki..

Anyway, enough of my thoughts... I want to share a bit of my life (or when I'm back home..) with Turkish Class. Here's the organisation I join still:> http://www.pht.org.my/

This is our involvement with Anna & The KIng- starring Jodie Foster & Chow Yuen Fatt... http://www.pht.org.my/AnnaKing/index.htm

Hmmm, maybe what I'd said is off topic from this thread but as far as concern every country should preserve their heritages, maintain their true identity yet still evolve with the flow of modernisation Sophie, i agreed with what you said... thumbs up!

PS. I can say that my organisation managed to convince the government to set aside certain millions for the culture & heritage fund of the country...

ty for ur additions Phoena, and seems u r one of another lasy mohican who believes to beauty of the past and big destroys of economical developing.Life has its own balance, and when somethings get more ,somethings have to get less.So more change more lost, more developing more problems, more luxary less soul...etc..So i Believe that we each one have to keep beauties of past as the last mohicans...
