Merhaba herkese,
what do you think about election campaigns in Turkey?
For me there are colorful and spectacular, but in last years much more closer to some european or american.

Is it true that candidates visit private houses?

It's same everywhere - demagogy to "buy" a votes, but it's like selling a product. But, in shop after two weeks you can say - I don't like it, I want other one

I'm interested in everything about campaigns in Turkey

Quoting Kadir37:

Demagog;
Demos + gogos = Halk avcısı in Latin.
We translate it as "oy avcısı".
In Turkia, you can say I don't like you, I want other party on power, five years later (probably after you said, "Size oy veren ellerim kırılsaydı")

I'm sorry, I don't exactly understand what you meant by Latin, but if you mean the word 'demagogue'/demagog comes from Latin, I consider it as my duty to correc tyou here

It comes from ancient greek From the words:
demos = the people
agogos = leading

It doesn't really matter, but maybe there are other people out there, like me, who like to know the origin of certain words. I like the origin to be correct

Exactly! And to be accurate, the origin of the first part is in the verb diero (to divide) and the second part comes from the verb ago (to lead)

In ancient greek times, a demagog was a political person who - in order to achieve his goals - was misleading the crowd with fake promises, faulse statements and flattery.

How true huh?
