Hello, I noticed on Facebook or twitter Turkish people would put T.C to their profile name. Can someone tell me what for and what is going on? Is it a protest ? Thank you in advance!

Nothing important.

A few  paranoid  people who think because some govr. departments have removed  the abbreviatrion, TC -Turkish Republic-, from  some departments´ boards, they would not be 100% sure the department belongs to Turkey. lol

I think it is the health ministry decided to remove the abbreviation.

Of course, this abbreviation is very important for the people. For example If  TC is NOT  on a board for a hospital in Ankara,  there is a great chance that hospital belongs to another republic.

If they really want to protest something they should put T.C. on the beginning of Merkez Bankası. Whenever i mention this i am being stricly cencored. Online news sites have comment option for their readers but none of them yet accepted this kind of comment even the news about merkez bankası. maybe they were all invaded!

anyway, Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası is the long form written on all paper money. But you cannot put T.C. here because T.C. stands for Türkiye Cumhuriyeti. Our central bank is a private bank from the beginning and millions of people get fooled by using Türkiye Cumhuriyet.

I hope this message will not be cencored here, too. Otherwise i will think TC (this time turkish class ) was invaded, too.

The grammar lesson behind this is: any noun in a chain which does not have a third person possessive suffix (here Cumhuriyet) is not qualified by a preceding noun.

here is the english translations:

Türkiye Cumhuriyeti: Turkish Republic (abbreviation: T.C. or with one point T.C)
This officially indicates that it belongs to Turkish state, property of turkish state.

Türkiye Cumhuriyet: Turkey, Republic (something has names turkey and republic in it.)

Even paranoids have the right to life and protest. Why this irritates you?

Why?

I dont think it irritates me at all.. It is more like political correctness.. Considering what this paranoia resulted in, the question is much more like why it does look very normal to you!!
