I love watching films though they are mainly english and american. I have just seen some good Iranian films so now thinking of turkish films.

I know nothing about turkish films so can anyone recommend any classic ones which I can buy or rent from the dvd shop i use next time I am there..I like all type of films.

I have just seen a review of a new film called Zerre so this has prompted me to look at turkish films

You can neither find them in dvd shops nor in english.
Even in Turkey hard to find in shops but we find, download and watch from internet.
Here is a list:

There are a few posts about good Turkish movies/dvds when you use the google search engine at the top right of this web-page

Gokuyum lists some of his favourites here

Many ´classic´ Turkish movies sell for 5 to 10 TL in the CD/DVD/Book specialist stores.

I look for DVDs with İngilizce altyazı (English sub-titles) noted on the back cover.

"Kaybendeler Kulübü" is my favorite one. Also I very liked "Takva" , "Anlat İstanbul" and "Tabutta Rövaşata". If say about comedy movies it is G.O.R.A.

Crossing the Bridge - The Sound of Istanbul (2005)

Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul is a 2005 film/documentary directed by Fatih Akın. The film is a journey through the music scene in modern Istanbul, Turkey as well as portraying its cultural life. It was screened out of competition at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.

It features German musician Alexander Hacke as the narrator. Hacke and Akın travelled around Istanbul with a mobile recording studio and a microphone, assembling an inspired portrait of Turkish music — from arabesque to indie rock and rap.

I completely agree.. Infact, I watched Anadolu´nun Kayip Sarkilari with a crowd of 50 people and I found it very difficult to hide my emotions, came very close to be in tears.

Now H, you are certainly Web savy enough to know how to choose the link to open on another page, aren´t you? I hate it when I click on a link and TC disappears.

Yes, I also find it annoying.

I always try to add a link witht "open in another window" attribute.

That said, you can still right click on a link and select "open in another window/tab" from the dynamic menu without TC disappearing.

When you add a link...you highlight the title of the link and a little menu on top will appear. Choose the one with the two links. A box will open asking you for the link url ,put the url for your link. the second line will ask you Target a box with a drop down menu will appear giving you the choices or no target, the link opening in the same window or a new window. If you don´t specify when people click on the link they will loose your post and go someplace else. If you choose "new window" when they click on the link the original page will stay open, but they will be directed to your link.  I hope this helps.
