Hi,

I need to make a sentence with iyelik:

Onlar____   çocuk____  bakıyorum.

Onlar+ın çocuk+u+a bakıyorum.

Onların çocuğuna bakıyorum.      ( İ am looking at their child )

Onların çocuklarına bakıyorum.   ( I am looking at their children )

İs this correct ?

And another question :

Why and when this happens?

Benim resim+im ==>  Benim resmim.

Senin oğul+un ==> Senin oğlum.

Bizim boyun+unuz ==> Bizim boynumuz.

Sizin karın+ınız ==> Sizin karnınız.

 Now, my teacher says it happens only in 1st and 2nd singular and plural, but not in 3rd s/p.

But my book says that it happens in every case.

ex:

Onun isim+i ==. Onun ismi.  or Onun isimi.

Welcome to the forum - looks we were stuck on the same thing.

These are exceptions you need to learn. Here was my post, I was provided a lot of helpful info:

I´m not exactly sure what your teacher meant vs. what you came across in your book. But perhaps these were cases where the exception only existed in 1st and 2nd singular and plural, but not in 3rd s/p etc...
