Okay so Ive been studying turkish for quite a while now (A couple of years ago and I got my memory refreshed again during this past month), just getting a bit done everyday-mainly grammar. 

Im done with 95% of the grammar on this site on the classes, and also inceased my grammar knowledge from other sites and I read ALOT. 

Ive read all turkish texts on this page more than once (short stories, pronunciation, homework convs....etc etc). Short stories on other pages, song lyrics and Im quite happy with my understanding!

I feel that wth a little vocab help from a dictionary I now understand alot of texts due to the fact of understanding grammar. ONE PROBLEM- I cant make a sentence or say smthg in turkish if my life depnded on it. I just understand.

What do I do? I honestly cant even form basic sentences, its driving me crazy!

-Ben tıp fakülteside öğrenciyim. (I am a student at the faculty of medicine)

- önce iki yıl, sürücüme öğrendim. (I learned how to drive two years ago)

-Biraz türkçe konuşbilirim, ama öğreniyorum. (I can speak little turkish but Im learning)

-sonraki haftasonu, opera´ya gitmek isteceğim ama arkadaşımın annesi seyahet ediyor, o yüzden kalmalı lazim.  (Next weekened, I want to go to the Opera but my friends mother is travelling so she must stay with her.)

-Arkadaşlarlı gelmeden önce, annem bilmem gerekiyor. (Before I go out with my friends, I must let my mother know)

Thats enough humiliation for one day (This took me such a long time )

Televizyon izliyorum

-I am watching tv with my mother

Annemle televizyon izliyorum.

-I am watching an interesting film with my mother on tv

Annemle televizyonda ilginç bir film izliyorum.

-I am watching a film with my mother, I think its very interesting but she slept while watching.

Annemle film izliyorum, bence çok ilginç bir film ama izlerken o uyudu.

-I think the film which is on tv is very interesting.

Bence televizyondeki film çok ilginç.

For #1, the reason the extra ´n´ is needed is because there already is an ending, from http://www.turkishlanguage.co.uk/suffix.htm:

Suffix -da/-de - any suffix appended to a soft word ending must begin with a soft consonant -d - according to Consonant Mutation rules
or -ta/-te- any suffix appended to a hard word ending in (p ç t k s ş h f) must begin with a hard consonant -t - according to Consonant Mutation rules
or -nde/-nda when affixed to extended words which end in a vowel.
The Static is the condition of place equates to in, on, at in English. (the locative)

Yes, it can be done with "sürmek ", we use both in that case.

Araba sürmeyi biliyorum. ---> I know how to drive. [literally "I know driving car]

Araba kullanmayı biliyorum.--> I know how to drive. [Litearally "I know using car]

2 yıl önce araba kullanmayı öğrendim. ----> I learnt how to drive 2 years ago.

2 yıl önce araba sürmeyi öğrendim. ----> //      //                //         //  

 One other point to add, as a native English speaker.

You have to say araba sürmek or araba kullanmak not just sürmek. In English we often just use a verb, without saying the object e.g. I can drive. I am ironing. I am knitting.

In Turkish you have to say "I can drive a car". I am ironing the ironing. I am knitting the knitting.  (araba sürmek. ütü ütülemek. örgü örmek).

Tunci, can u please explain to me the alterations that Kedinero made on my first try grammar wise? Because I didnt really unerstand why he made them so my benefit/gain from trying was very minimal (I do appreciate it alot though kedinero! )

 When the noun compound ends with a vowel and before taking any case ending “n” buffer comes.

Mutfak  masası -à Kitchen table

We want to say “ On the kitchen table”, to be able to say “on” we need “da/de” case suffix. And naturally we need “n” buffer.

Mutfak masası  + n + da -à On the kitchen table.

Tıp Fakültesi -à Faculty of Medicine

Tıp Fakültesi + n + de -à At the Faculty of  Medicine

Your original sentence was :

I learned how to drive 2 years ago and you come up with a sentence like this -à  önce iki yıl, sürücüme öğrendim.

Ok. You started with “time”, which is correct and you put the main verb [öğrenmek] in the end which is correct too.

But, stating time I think you thought in English way -à

“ before two years = önce iki yıl “ which sounds odd. It should be first the number [2 yıl ] then  “önce”

İki yıl önce ………………………………….öğrendim.

Note that placing “time” is more flexible. So you can put it in the begining or in the middle of the sentence.

Where is the subject ?? [Ben] , it is embedded and marked in the main verb in the end. [öğrendim ]

[ Ben] iki yıl önce.................öğrendim.

Where is the object ? -à driving car [how to drive a car]

Araba sürme -à driving car

Araba sürme + y [buffer letter] + i [accusative ending ,because the verb öğrenmek requires accusative marking for direct object]

İki yıl önce araba sürmeyi [kullanmayı ] öğrendim.

 what does that suffix mean?

This suffix “mekte”, “makta” functions as “-iyor” however, there is slight differences between these two kind of suffixes although both indicate the continues tense.

-        The usage of –makta[mekte] is not as common as –iyor[ıyor, uyor, üyor ]

-        -makta may be used more formal statements.

·       Also, the main difference is , the –makta sentence , the action has definitely started started and still continuing.

·       Whereas –iyor sentence may have not necessarily started, as in the example below:

 - Yarın İstanbul’a gidiyorum.  --à I am going to Istanbul TOMORROW.

In the sentence above, “the present continues tense action” actually has NOT started yet. In other words, “My going to Istanbul hasn’t started yet”

Going back to your original sentence,

Biraz türkçe konuşabiliyorum, ama hala öğrenmekteyim.

I speak little Turkish but I am still learning.

The action started in the past and still continuing, I mean your learning Turkish is still happening.

Gelecek hafta operaya gitmek istiyorum ama arkadaşım annesiyle birlikte yolculuk ediyorlar.

     why not conjugate it in the future tense, when Im speaking of NEXT weekend

Because “your wantING to go to opera NOW “  The incompleted  possible future action “your going to opera” is supposed to take place next week,

However at the very time you make this statement  you are expressing your “your wanting/willing “ to go to opera at present time.

 This means must right? She must know? and ´-dir´ refers to anne?

Yes, this means “I must inform my mother “

No, -dir is part of  verb “bildirmek” = to inform
