Tomorrow I have an interview for a new Job (aaarrgghh)..... So I have an excuse to procrastinate on here (instead of cramming in last minute stealth answers )
What are your top tips during interviews?
Since I´m usually doing the hiring here is what I suggest to prepare:
1. Be on time
2. Research the company. Memorize some facts about the company
3. Prepare a list of questions you would like to ask....Just don´t ask how soon you can take time off.
4. Dress for Success
5. You should be doing at least 60% of the talking, I would say no more than this. You don´t want to take over the entire interview. Avoid going into to much of your personal life.
6. Project positiveness
7. Be prepared to answer questions and give examples. Don´t forget in the end the positive results and outcomes.
8. Lastly, just be at ease and yourself.
Good luck, I´m sure you will do fine.

Above was a joke, but now I am very serious: I received a text message from that same student saying: ´I love you.´ I am convinced for 99% that he is joking but what if - that 1% doubt - he is not? I deleted it and I did not answer it but what should I do when he is in my class the next time? Should I tell him not to send texts like that anymore? Should I ignore it and act as if he did not sent it? Should I .... Advice please!!

Trudy, I´d take it as a joke and would ignore it for now. If the situation repeats itself, I´d have a talk with that student and tell him he either has to change his class or give up bothering you. Otherwise you´d have to report it.
Of course if you like him, marry him
Lessluv - good luck with your interview

Actually that might work, that´s what my colleague did when one of her students told her he loved her. She looked at him and said - well, then I suppose we need to get married now That knocked him off his feet. But Trudy´s admirer might already be prepared for that

If he is over 15, you should not ignore it as a joke if you ask me..
You should speak to him and you should be quite firm..If you dont, there is a chance that he was talking about it to his friends and you might be labeled as all sorts of things..
Of course, it is just my idea..

The man is 48, divorced and living as a single parent with his daughter!
I do like him as an enthousiastic student, but this behaviour - even when we all in class joke at lot - makes me feeling very unfortable. If it is true, I think he should leave school - as there is no other class of his level than the one I teach, if it is not true, will I not make a fool of myself to start a serious conversation?
