-ebil- suffix and vowel harmony

As I understand it the abil / ebil suffix comes from "bilmek" = "to know", and this is why it remains the same

Bod, sometimes there are rules in languages which you just can't explain.. Have you ever tried to 'understand' Dutch? That is impossible! Even I can't tell you why certain rules are there, I just say 'well.. that's just the case..'

Well,i guess i agree with Etty,

we don't change 'bil' accourding to the vowel harmony rules because it is a verb 'bilmek' adding the meaning of the ability to the verb,without changing the tense or the state of it

And pls correct me if i am wrong

hmmmm.......took me long enough to notice that this suffix disobeys vowel harmony (for whatever reason!)
