I so love smoking that I can imagine a life without woman, even a life on the Mars, but can't imagine a life without cigarette. Nor can I imagine a day without 50 cigarettes.

Although I'm looking very forward to the day that I can leave cigarettes behind me, I must say, I agree with you completely, you are my man!
But eerrrm, let me ask, if you had to choose between women and cigarettes for the rest of your life, tell me your honest answer..

Actually, my Turkish husband has never touched a cigarette! I don't know if that's the norm or not. He's very athletic and that's more what I equate with the Turks I know.

Hmm Kadir doesn't smoke either and nor does any of his friends, as far as I know.

But I heard that nargile is becoming popular among youth again.

If I chose cigarette for the rest of my life and women for my another life, would we still remain friends? I don't want to lose more a friend of mine.

I'm sorry but if you keep smoking that much, you will really look like Mona Rıza and I'm afraid the only woman who would possibly be interested in spending time with you is miss Mona Lisa herself.. but i'm afriad she passed away years ago.

Hahahaha! Great! In that case I would have at least a reasonable cause to wait for my another life.

I don't like saving money, -that's why I am a penniless all the time-, but I am a rich, very very rich, person in terms of butts as I have been saving butt of each cigarette I smoke since my childhood.

I still find it hard to understand even though cigarettes are cheap in Turkey. How anyone can afford to smoke 50 a day on such low wages. I gave up smoking years back and never regret doing so.

I see now why you had never known what the taste was like. 20 a day...erm.. how do you say?... an inefficient amount in order to know the taste.

hmmm.. this really shocked me..
Turks are smokers too!..
anyway, i dont questioned them being smokers..
actually it's a usual thing for a man
in many places, i guess..
i've asked some of my friends before,
('why you have to smoke, how it helps you?')
this is their way of releasing a tension
and i agree with that..
i tried it out of curiosity..
and there's nothing
as long as you can control it..
Too much are always bad..
too much of cigars would really
affecte our good health..

I've come to realise that a lot of Turks are chain smokers!

Merhaba everybody!
My Turkish BF used to smoke 1/2 pack a day since high school. He gave up smoking for about 3 months now. Just wanna share: while we're chatting on cam he smokes & would you believe I can smell his cigar smoke from where I was. I smelled it for 10 sec. btw, we're thousand miles away from each other & no one in our house smoke. You may say it was weird, yes it was & unexplainable. I didn't tell my BF about it. On the 2nd day of our talk I smelled it again & it came through for 10 sec. this time I told him about it and it gave me goose bumps and he was shocked! From then on he stopped smoking Glad it happened though

For Christine who gave up smoking years back & no regrets...Kudos!!!

I just have a question for the Turks in this tc...do ladies allowed to use nargile? can somebody give a brief info about nargile. teşekkürler

Off offff I understand you EXACTLY Cyrano!
I also smoke too much and for so many years now And if I go out with friends, then I smoke even more (as I stay awake more hours). So, those 50 you mentioned, I definately know how they taste

I ve been smoking since high school and I never regretted it or tried to quit it (except from when I was pregnant, that i quit it). A few months ago, I decided for the first time to - at least - smoke less. It worked for some time, but then I got back to my old "routine".

I hate to admit it, but I love smoking. I know though, that I have to quit it once and for all, if not for my own, at least for my beloveds' sake...

Tell me your bad addictions and I will tell you if you can be a real friend.-Cyrano

I haven't reached 50 a day yet but I'm on a good way smoking for 14 years and loving it!

Haha lol
My worse addictions are cigarettes and coffee. Aaaa and spending all my money (and even more than the money I make ).

I don't know what 'saving for a rainy day' means. I live every day like there is no tomorrow. No plans no calculations. And the worst of all, is that I LIKE IT!

i'm hoping ladies can use nargile, coz i was smoking it in the cafes whist i was in turkiye

nargile is a water pipe used to smoke flavoured tobacco... apple, strawberry, etc.

it can be sometimes called hookah, and it is similar to the shisha in egypt. i think it is exactly the same.

as far as i know, nargile (or somethin similar) is smoked in morrocco, egypt, lebanon, other middle eastern countries, and i also heard that it is becoming more popular amongst the young people in turkiye.

i'm not a smoker myself, but i love the nargile

Offfffff you have my sympathy Susie! I had this problem in my last job. People started moaning about the "time off" smokers were having. I had a good answer...

I said "Yes you are right - we should start calculating ALL the time wasted in the office. The time you all spend on private calls, private emails, chatting about your boyfriends, eating your snacks....". They soon shut up after that !

Well I have to say.. in my last two jobs I was always terribly annoyed when one of the waitresses/garsons owuld go outside for a smoke AGAIN! I mean, when running a restaurant there's nit really time for private calls and e-mails, and we are not allowed to eat in the restaurant itself, only on certain times in the kitchen. So actually you can never really waste time. I have to say that when you are working really hard (and believe me, you don't want to be a waitress in a children's restaurant in summer!) it is really annoying when the smokers get a 5 ot 10 minute break each hour, while you have to wait till you can have your drink or your dinner. I'm sure this is different situation than in the office, but still.. If smokers get a break for a cigarette, then non-smokers should get that same break (obviously not at the same time ) to have a cup of coffee or a glass of soda.

I m alone in my office, so I smoke as much as I want and nobody ever complains, although the most people in the company are non smokers.
My mom always says that this job is killing me! If i decide to quit smoking, I should leave this company where everything is allowed

Now let me spoil your fun! As from March 2007, in the UK smoking in confined or enclosed spaces will be illegal. No bars, pubs, clubs, restaurants will there be any smoking - you will have to go outside to smoke (:satisfied_nod. At work no-one will be allowed to smoke, unless they are in a designated smoking zone - not enclosed of course. Employers could be fined up to £5000 for allowing smoking in enclosed areas.

Smoking in the workplace has not been allowed for ages due to fire safety regulations.

I am not sure whether I agree entirely with the law, but being a non smoker I will be glad to go out and not come home smelling like an ash tray.

But I do think that gradually our freedom is being eroded by some senseless laws and controls.

Now can a smoker tell me how can anyone enjoy a good meal or a drink in a bar, without a cigarette? (or two...three... )

That's what makes Greece and Turkia a paradise for smokers. You can smoke everywhere.

Btw, why can't they make pubs, bars and restaurants for smokers too? I respect the right of the non smokers to not breathe our smoke, but what about us? A middle solution would be democratic. This one isn't.

Lots of pubs etc have separate areas for smoking and non-smoking already, but as from March 2007 it will be banned completely. Partly to do with the people working there being at risk of second hand smoke and related cancer. But then everyone has the choice where to work and whether to subject themselves to other peoples smoke.

I think it is a crazy law really, and I cant see how 1000 people in a nightclub want to go smoke at the same time - where will they go? they wil start fighting? they will spill out onto roads? and even more problems

We went to Edinburgh in May where the ban is already in force - and what do you get? A club that has half the people in doors and half out doors smoking - right in the door way. So al lthe non-smokers have to walk right through a fog!!

But someone has come up with a brainwave beer mat - please leave my drink I have gone for a fag. Just leave it on your glass!

Before the total ban on smoking in bars in Scotland a lot of bars did not allow smoking within 1 metre of the bar itself
