Merhaba!
Somebody please help me translate this into turkish.
When I told you I was going home on 31 October it was true, I had already made all the bookings. But today I found out that my father is still not well enough to travel. The doctor decided to redo his stitches and it will take at least 10 days to heal. My father has diabetes so wounds take time to heal.
I never lied to you. Its all just an unfortunate case of misunderstanding. Why would I want to stay here longer than I have too. Bayram is upon us and if I stay here, I won't be celebrating Bayram. I'm here for my father. Everyday I iftar by myself. Do you think I want this?
Tesekkürler!

Hi Sarah
The upcoming Bayram is a feast to celebrate the end of Ramazan. As it follows the muslim calendar, the dates for Bayram differs every year. This year its due on Nov 3rd. If you'd like to do a search, it is also known as Eid. There are 2 types of Bayram/Eid; Kurban Bayramı/Eid Al-Adha and Ramazan Bayramı/Eid Al-Fitr. Its a wonderful time for family reunions, celebrations and asking for forgiveness from friends and family. In my part of the world, Malaysia, we start the day off by kissing the hands of our elders and ask for forgiveness after which we perform Bayram/Eid prayers at the mosque. Think its the same in Turkey too. Do correct me if I'm wrong. I can actually go on and on but a new thread on the appropriate section of the board would probably be best.
HTH PM me if you want more info!

I was hoping Sarah would get a reply I wanted to know about Bayram too. I was confused I thought it was seperate from Eid... now I am a little wiser for this. Do you send good wishes to friends and family on this day? Do you send cards or gifts or things like this? Thank you very much everyone for this info.

In Malaysia we send Eid cards and hampers. Eid is also a very lucrative time for children as they usually get money from their elders. Some parents even promise a certain sum of money for each day they fast and a bonus amount if they do not miss a day of ramazan. Not really the best method to get a child to fast as ramazan is a time to reflect and empathise on the suffering of others who are not as fortunate as you and to be thankful for what God has provided.

That's good to know Nuttheadd - I smiled at the parents bribes it's a bit like some people at Christmas who tell the children if they are not good Father Christmas won't bring presents (as if presents are the important thing!:-S ) - Thanks for that.

I see a lot of replies but since no one seems to have been able to help with your query, I will give this a shot. But this will by no means be completely accurate turkish though it will get your point across! Corrections are welcome!
Sana Ekimin 31'inde geri donecegimi soyledimde, dogrusunu soylerdim - yerim gercekten ayrilmisdi. Mahlesef babamin durumu iyi olmadigini bugun ogrendim - seyahat etmesi mumkun deyilmis. Dikisleri basdan yapilmasi gerekti ve seker hastaligindan dolayi iyilesmek icin en azdan 10 gun isteycekmis.
Sana hic bir yalan soylemedim. Mahlesef bir birimizi yanlis anlamisiz. Burda gereginden fazla daha uzun sure kalmak niye isteyim? Bayram yaklasiyor, burda kalirsam Bayrami kutlayamaycam. Ben sadece babam icin burdayim. Hergun iftari kendi basima yalniz yapiyorum. Ben boyle istedigimi mi saniyorsun?
