Can someone check these for me? The sentences may sound a bit crooked, but it's about the grammar..
This is the nicest present that I received.
Bu en güzel aldığım hediye.
Of all the presents I got he gave me the nicest one I received.
Aldığımın hediyelerin hepsi o bana en güzel aldığımı verdi
And how would you translate this:
"He gave me the best present I could ever have received"
Thanks

Thanks Rain
But don't you translate "that I could have received" with a participle then?

I know, and I appreciated it. And I'm the last to argue with a native speaker
But you changed the structure of the sentence, I thought there would be a participle for what I wanted to say..

Ahaaa! See, I haven't got to those ones yet..
I guess you have to use a negative with the word "asla", right?

Quoting Elisa: Can someone check these for me? The sentences may sound a bit crooked, but it's about the grammar..
This is the nicest present that I received.
Bu en güzel aldığım hediye.
Of all the presents I got he gave me the nicest one I received.
Aldığımın hediyelerin hepsi o bana en güzel aldığımı verdi
And how would you translate this:
"He gave me the best present I could ever have received"
Thanks |
This is the nicest present that I received.
Bu aldığım en hoş hediye.
The nicest present -- en hoş hediye
You cannot insert "aldığım" in between, it would then mean something else:
en hoş aldığım hediye
the present which I have received the nicest way
en hoş (the nicest) modifies the verb (almak) as an adverb
Of all the presents I got he gave me the nicest one I received.
Aldığımın hediyelerin hepsi o bana en güzel aldığımı verdi
Aldığım hediyelerin en hoşunu, bana "o" verdi. (if you mean he was the one who gave it to me)
or
Bana aldığım hediyelerin en hoşunu verdi. (if you mean the nicest one)
"He gave me the best present I could ever have received"
Bana alabileceğim en iyi hediyeyi verdi.
