Quoting aslan2: This accusative thing needs more explanation.
Turkish has the following cases:
Nominative
Accusative
Dative
Locative
Ablative
There are some more but they are the basic 5 we learned at school.
They are mutually exclusive. So when a noun is in dative case it cannot be in accusative case.

Yes, of course, I lost it a bit there for a moment
Thanks for explaining!

The way I understand it:
The object of most verbs takes the accusative. E.g.
We went to see the Topkapi Palace
Topkapı Sarayı'ni görmeye gittik
Did you see my suitcase?
Bavulumu gördünüz mü?
May I use the phone?
Telefonu kullanabilir miyim?
Ofcourse I am only a beginner so I may not have understood correctly
Must dash going to the sunbed Jo-Anne

Great!
Don't forget the vowel harmony:
Topkapı Sarayı'nı görmeye gittik
