Very worrying news today. Let's hope this situation is handled sensibly by all other countries. It certainly puts our daily "problems" into perspective

I have participated in demonstrations and public meetings against the G-8, nuclear armement, enviromental pollution and the like in Seattle, London, Paris, and Istanbul, also in the Europen Social Forums, most recently in Athens, on world-affairs. Perhaps that's why I have seen neither Aenigma nor you, Joey, in any of these and thus don't know her, nor your, concern for the environment and the such-like.

Sorry.

I am very pleased and surprised to hear it Cyrano - well done! Environmental issues are my passion and I too take an active part in many public meetings and demonstrations - mainly with regard to environmental pollution. It is not something I choose to advertise about myself on this site.

However, my immediate concern with this latest news is as much an enivonmental one as it a basic fear of distruction. If this situation is not handled diplomatically and with extreme caution we will all be in a very dangerous situation. We have not been so close to a major threat to our planet since the Cuban missile crisis. In addition another arms race now beings, particulary with China and Japan. I will pray and watch very closely these next few days

It isn't, as yet, confirmed - only a claim has been made!

I'm glad to see you are doing your bit for the environment cyrano, it was only the tone and the ridicule in your original post that prompted me to reply.

It has been confirmed, that North Korea has performed a nuclear test, late Sunday night. The test is an irresponsible and provocative act that could pose a serious threat to the regional stability of northeast Asia and to global and international security. I also pray Aenigma there is a resolution to this quickly.
