thats really biggest worry in Turkey lately,if it goes this way i think noone never will walk on roads in safe.Thats the reflection of economical and social changes in Turkey after 1980's.freedom is ofcourse nice but whenit gets more then enough i think that will be reason of many crime machines

That is unforunate Mr.X however, crime is terrible every where now a days. Even the nice neighborhoods are not safe. I remember when I was kid, my parents never locked the front door. Now it's unheard of, not sure about Turkey. I still believe that the punishment has to fit the crime, before people start to change their behavior. There is little consequences for some of the crimes people committ. For instance you steal, you get a slap on the hand. Maybe if that hand was cut off, people would think twice about stealing.

I agree crime is getting worse everywhere in the world. For example look what happened to Jesse James in the UK (Jesse James, a 15 year old boy shot dead off his bike).
People realise whats going on, some fail to do nothing and go after petty crimers instead where as those doing their best to solve crimes are not getting any help.
Also war is upon many countries and it's not yetting getting better.
All we can do is hope that the world gets a better place, before the human destroys it.

This leads me to another topic I will post here. Headline News in my area. 14 year old boy shot to death, trying to steal a car. Apparently, a man went out and started his car for work. He went back inside to warm up, then came out later and a 14 year old boy was in the driver seat. So the man went back in to get his gun and killed the boy. What are your thoughts on this? I would love to hear from anyone.

What the hell? Ok I know the boy was in the wrong but God he doesn't deserve to be shot! What a life that was ruined, only 14
Do you know how long the man was jailed for?

This is the thing Kai, people are calling into the news and radio saying that the man had every right to shoot him. It's terrrible how our society is resorting to this. If it was my car, I would have just called the police. The car is replaceable, however the boy is not. It just happened last night and I'm not sure what's going to happen to the man. He should go to prison. The laws here say, if someone breaks into your house and you fear for your life you have the right to defend yourself, which I agree. However were talking about a car, the man could have just called the police.

I agree the car can be replaced.
In my country the law is pathetic. One time a man was burgling a house and fell from the skylight and he claimed compensation and got it! because it was on another persons property.
If it were me I would have just said well it's his own damn fault for being in a place he shouldn't be in the first place.
Even a burgler does not deserve to be shot unless he is putting someone's life at risk.
I hope the man that shot that poor boy get sentenced to life imprisonment, but I know in Turkey that won't be happening.

Hı
Teachıp, with regards to your post about a 14 year old boy, what if the boy will not really steal the car or maybe just of curiosity, he wants to drive (he wants to know the feeling of driving a car) and the man was so abrupt in his action e.i. concluding it the boy would steal his car. But its too late to realize, the boy is gone and the crime already happened. Nobody had the chance to know the real motive of the boy, supposingly the man could have just called a police and investigate.
Horrible, anyway, in our place there are also like that. Young boys became snatchers which i wondered why the police forces cannot do anything to stop it.:S

It just confirms my views on gun laws in the US. The pioneer days are long gone, there is no justification for having a gun to defend yourself, in my opinion.
