Fener Street
Fener Street
Fener (Fanar or Phanar), the old Greek quarter, is a neighborhood midway up the Golden Horn, within the borough of Fatih. The streets in the area are full of historic wooden houses, churches, and synagogues dating from Byzantine and Ottoman times.

Up the hill of this street is the most prominent building in Fener, the Greek School, commonly known as Kirmizi Mektep (Red School). The building dates from 1881.
