sorry to be a pain, but can anyone explain how 'gülümsettiğini' works, because if its the -dik suffix i thought that meant something like 'the thing which i am smiling'? this is the one bit of turkish that i find really confusing!

there is a causative suffix in it.

"gülümse-"t"-t-iğini"

the second "t" there is the doublet.
