Depressed? Recent research has found that half an hour’s exercise 3 to 4 times a week has the same (or better) effect on depression than drugs – regularly reducing depression by 50%. Placebos (dummy drugs) were just as effective than either drugs or herbal remedies because the attention that sufferers receive from doctors has a positive effect which has nothing to do with the actual medication given!
By training yourself to “be positive†you can make yourself cheerful again.
So get off your PC and go out do something

While this I think is close to truth, I don't like this attitude of telling people who are depressed "you made it up". I think it's good that they go to a doctor if they feel that their depression is interfering with their lives, however - a doctor should decide if a case requires medication or can be treated with therapy or exercise. And I think that many psychiatrists overmedicate their patients.

I would never tell somebody that depression is "made up". I think this just shows that exercise releases the "happy chemicals" that can be lacking, and also just talking through things with someone can help
