2. bir yabancı gibi görünüyorsan…: It seems to me that present continuos tense is widely used in expressions of feelings and sensory perception. Am I right?

3. turist polisine geçirmeni tehmin götürmekle tehdit et; Kadınlar sürücünün yanında oturmaktan sakınmalılar: I can’t really understand the division or labour between me- and mek-infinitives. Is it something that can be understood or is it a lexical question (certain verbs govern words with certain forms and that’s all there is to it)?

Thanks again, gokuyum. I need to see this verbal noun thing properly. My old grammar (Lewis 1967) mentions two restrictions in the use of -mek- infinitive:

1. -mek never takes personal suffixes (-me does).

2. -mek never takes the suffix of the genitive case (-me does).

When we add what you just said, we get the rule

3. -me infinitive doesn´t act as the subject of the sentence (-mek does)

I understand you changed the style into more polite and I can see the reason. The English text was from a student appartment site which style was very informal and it must have subconsciously affected the choices I made.

Did you mean I should use pl 2nd as if I was talking to more than one person? If so, I would expect it to be oluşturunuz or do I analyse the sentence wrong?

What is the difference between işaret and uyarı? Is it about seeing and hearing?
