It is not only Arabs, all the countries [african, latin american, asian ] that has to get the knowledge, inventions  from the west. And it is better to say " Are other countries started to notice that they need Scientific Revulation just like the West done ? " instead of  targeting just Arabs.

Just consider the identities of the speakers.

Even you should be able to understand that some Arabs are getting smarter...

The two videos show Arabs speaking their minds about Arabs, in totally civilized terms. They are obviously dissatisfied with the current state of Arabs.

Can this be called targeting Arabs ?

Can you not see that when you bring an issue with such title  into this web-site [who have many arab members who are willing to learn Turkish] will offend Arab learners ?

and wont they feel like as  as sort of "discriminating goal" behind this ?.

If you changed the title into a more general one such as  "Islamic world or East or other countries" , that wont be that offensive. Dont you think Alpha ?

The problem is in the title " Are Arabs getting smarter" ? "

As if to say Arabs were not smart [stupid] but they started to getting smarter. Thats how they would understand.

If someone send a post saying " Are Turks getting smarter ? ", I am sorry but I would react that immidiately, and I would feel kind of humiliated.  That is the same thing.

This is my understanding.

Agree or not.

Atatürk also wanted us to face to the west. He wanted us to get the knowledge and the science from the west, He didnt want us to copy them as some people do nowadays in every field. [ some give English names to their business, some follow western traditons , some impose western way of life....etc]

Atatürk´s principal of Westernization was  parallel with his attemps of modernization and creating a modern state and society by doing radical transformations.

And His understanding of  westernization was based upon "akılcılık" [rationalism].

And "Akıl" is mentioned so many times in Kuran 75 verses [as far as I know] and also "düşün müyor musunuz ? [Are you not thinking ? ] mentioned in Quran so many time.

So Quran wants us to "use our brain" instead of fighting eachother. That is what West done long time ago, West used its brain and done reforms and inventions, they obeyed Quranic order in that sense. Thats why they are the fathers of  inventions.

So , follow the science instead of spiritual leaders. As for muslim believers they dont need any spiritual guidence as they have already a guide book [ Quran].

I am Arab, no matter the country...and I am proud.

Actually smarter, which means more smart, is not a bad word. They were smart and now smarter.

Literally yes, but not all can take that way. And plus, there is a bit of "sarcasm" in that.

Those Arab members that you think are offended by these two videos here are under heavy censorship in their own countries and never hear these issues discussed openly.

The smarter Arab members should thank me for providing alternative views about Arabs, from definitely qualified Arab speakers, in reasonaby civilized manner.

Not so smart ones will get angry with me; they can always go burry their heads in the desert sand, if that is what they prefer.

Of course you are proud to be an Arab. That is natural. Nothing wrong with that !

Those speakers on the video are probably just as proud to be Arabs. They only wish there were more things to be proud of, and question what exactly is holding Arabs back.

It is a civilized discussion, yes , and it is good that they can argue, discuss such issues.

However, the problem is you quoted these discussions without changing its sarcastic title [are arabs getting smarter].

is it too difficult to change the title ?

Actually, it is not the title, I have just noticed that it is

Progress for Arab and Islamic World Can Only Come from Western Civilization

Why did you not use that  ?

as you see, it says "for Arab and Islamic world". Not only Arabs.

He did aim at civilization, yes. He did not however,  limit the source of civilization as  West.

Some people in Turkey opposed his approch and ideas too, in ways very similar to Aida Krishan´s. Not all his opposers were traitors; some simply could not understand the depths of his vision.

2. "Progress for Arab and Islamic World Can Only Come from Western Civilization"

That, in my opinion, is total crap.  West will not give anything to ascend  welfare or humane qualities of  any other group, religion, region, state or nation.. Progress for Arabs, or other developing countries, will have to come from within such people themselves.

Governments dont want a population capable of critical thinking.

They want obedient workerspeople just smart enough to run the machinesand just dumb enough to

passively accept their situation.

George Carlin

NOTE:

(There are not many machines in most developing countries, either !)

Yes it is crap. It means they have to be dependent and give up their values for the sake of believing everything that West will impose them. [west already did and does by colonosim]

Of course ,Arabs and in general term Islamic world, themselves have to create their own development by using and improving the knowledge of the west.Take knowledge but dont let west shape or destroy your culture and other values.

Carlin´in Yedi kirli kelime komedi rutini, 1978´de Amerikan Yargıtayı´nın F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation davasına yansımış ve 5´e 4 oyla Carlin´in oyunu televizyonlarda yasaklanmıştır.

Birçok kişi tarafından Lenny Bruce´un yerini aldığı düşünülen Carlin, Comedy Central´ın yayınladığı tüm zamanların en iyi 100 komedyeni listesinde Richard Pryor´un ardından tüm zamanların en iyi ikinci stand-up komedyeni ilan edilmiştir.[2]

22 Haziran 2008´de göğüs ağrıları şikayetiyle gittiği Santa Monica St. John Hastanesi´ne kaldırılan Carlin, aynı gün 5:55´te kalp yetmezliğinden hayatını kaybetmiştir.[3]

Ölümünden dört gün sonra John F. Kennedy Merkezi tarafından Carlin´e "Amerikan Komedisi için Mark Twain Ödülü" verilmiştir.[4]
