For me, to introduce this subject. If I were ever to fall in love with someone, he would most likely fall for a foreign man. Foreign men(I'm from USA so most other countries I mean when I say foreign) are more romantic, have a lot of good values, have respect, and many other things. Few are found in my meetings over here. Mainly the reason I do NOT believe in love any longer. Feel free to ask me more, and ad all your own info and opinions of course.

Please look through old threads... such topics have been discussed extensively in the past, for example: Ideal person to be in love with.

Not by everyone obviously.
Hopefully it could be a bit less superficial than the qouted thread...!

But to make things clear: do you want to know from others "what person to fall in love with" or to discuss "does love exist or not?"

Haha. I didn't know that people would respond to this so fast. Nyways, it's fine if some people say off-subject things. I don't mind ^ ^ People gotta live a little, right? lol, but not live too much.
I am 16, and yes I am still young, but more mature than most. And I'm not saying so because of pride.
I have been through online relationships, sought them out in person, seen others' relationships, and much more. Besides, no one in person has ever asked me as such, at least not those that I would ever like. lol. And I'm NOT shallow, so please don't think that. Umm.. Oh and for those that said I was weird and stuff, thankyou! ^ ^ I love bein the weirdo of the party!
Umm...what else, lemme see. Oh! What I meant at first
(the begining of the post)was I was saying for everyone else to say how they feel about love personally, and about how they feel about what I think of it. I meant to give your opinions and share about yourselves as well!

Ok lata then

Hear, hear!

Some remarks to the OP: why should we give our opinions on a nitwit topic like this? Because a 16-year old teen gives us permission to do so? Wow! I'm happy to hear I am allowed.
And, read back your own statement about your English please, can you tell me where in a dictionary I can find words like 'lata, lemme, nyways'? Using this chat language in a forum is exactly what some of us mean: shallow.

+ 1/2

I dont think the usage of shortning one's way of writing is shallow. I'm sometimes guilty too, just for the sake of typing quick.

But I think that in a forum, one should always try to type properly. We are not all fluently English around here and with this multi-cultural/multi-lingual community, we must try and make it understandable for all.

I feel very 'who am I to tell you', since I am just a small 4 years older, but if you want to be taken serious and be seen as 'mature', the way you have described yourself, using normal language and omitting ^^^ would do a great job!

Oh, I am very sorry. I did not relize that I was using my words casually as I do with other good English speaking people. I deeply apologize and I will try my best to not put slang in my typing. I think I may have forgotten what site's forum I was on, so I believe I got caught up too much at trying to make things fun and such. I hope you all can forgive me for that. And as for the subject, you don't have to type here. It's always fun for subjects that are different. This can be a serious discussion, or we can make it really fun. Anyways...continue-

I think it's good to know what you want. If you don't know what kind of person you want, how will you ever find him/her???

It's like buying a car... "What car do you want?" Says Salesperson.
"Umm, I don't know." You say.
"Well, I guess it doesn't matter then. How about that SUV over there?"
"Let me ask my mother. Hmm, I guess I'll take it."

God, can you imagine if Libralady saw her slang message? lol

Well as for the original post and who agrees with it or not etc I guess many of us were like that at age 16, so I agree to not being so harsh, though giving her or any other teenager advice is ALWAYS good lol
here is my advice: please look around Turkish Class previous forums before posting yet ANOTHER one on "love"

Also as for being more "mature" than most 16 year olds, which you may be, but note there have been others who around the same age that have also been more mature (some that genuinly have been more mature) and some who haven't been so it is nothing special and for me I don't judge on age. I have seen some pretty smart and mature teenagers in my life time and some of which are a memeber of this site.
But in my books everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves to be "mature".

Time will reveal all lol

I have a gay friend at work .. and he's great .. I can go to lunch with him and not have to worry about being hit on .. only thing is if there was a fight .. I'm not sure who would be the man .. giggle .. would I have to protect myself? .. or would my gay friend protect me ..

I'm sorry, that's not what I meant. I meant If I fell in love with a man, he would most likely be a foreign man.
No, I am perfectly straight.
And you are right, time will tell. I may have been selfish to say that I was very mature in the first place, for I would not be able to say so for myself. Only others may findit so.

Also, is it possible to choose who you want/will fall in love with? In my opinion that is not love. That is who you may have a "crush" on at the age of 16 but when it comes to real love, you love them for who they are, not who you want them to be, otherwise you are not loving them for the actual person they are but instead because of who you are attracted are.
One thing you do learn in life: Looks are not everything

Also, how can you consider the type of people you fall in love with? I mean, you say you like most foreign boys but what happens when a loving boy who is the same nationality as you comes along? Hence, I would consider actually getting to know the person before you "fall in love" with them.

Either way, I would most likely not fall in love with either a foreign man nor one of my same nationality.
I may be young, yes. But for some reason adults do not believeit that at about the age 16 that one cannot have that much knowledge or that many experiences, thus they are considered lower. Does that seem fair?

Huh? It is not about being 'lower'
I do believe you have many experiences.
I think you got here some opinions, to use or not to. It is up to you to decide. And thus you are not 'lower' you are a self-responsibel person in concerning this.
If you do not want to fall in love, then don't. But why did you started a thread in what kind of person would you ever fall in love with?
Experiences do have their own value and contribution.
But what is the most important is the way we manage to get some conclusions out of our experiences...
And at 16, as much experiences you would have, you have still much ahead of you in life to find out and value.
For example at 16 may be characteristic to state i would fall in love with a foreign man, than, couple of days later to say i would most likely not fall in love with either domestic, or foreign man. Which is a contradiction. So, at this age contradictions happen more frequently. It is not about being lower, again, it is about some of us here have also experienced the age of 16, with or without as much experiences... Like you experienced the age of 12, for example.

We have all been 16 at one time and just like our parents, grandparents and great grandparents we tend to learn by our own mistakes. Even though our parents warn us or tell us by experience the rules of life, we each have to discover it ourselves. If you are the rare case Gab, that listens to everything your parents & religion teaches you, then more power to you.

We all have dreams of our futures and plans, however life can be rewarding and disappointing at times. Prepare for your future but also be realistic if your path in life takes a detour. Keeping to your values and morals you will be tried over and over. If religion is your rock, keep it close to you.

You will never be able to predict who you will fall in love with. Love is a mysterious thing. However, you can look for cetain attributes in a man like caring, humorous and giving.

I don't think anyone here is claiming that at 16 you have no knowledge or experience. I believe what people are trying to point out is, you have more knowledge and experience to gain if you believe you know the man you would fall in love with, will be a foreigner or not.

That is only because they have been sixteen too, and know that things are so 'changeable' at that time, and how different they look upon things now.

But as was said before, if you were really mature, you would stop being concerned about maturity. It even seems as if youre worried whether it's clear to others or not. Who cares?

It has nothing to do with 'adults' seeing you as 'lower'. All they do is remember their days of that age, and laugh at how they though they had figured it all out.

They dont call it 'Sweet sixteen' for nothing, dear.

--
A second thing you might want to give a thought. Do you really think it is possible to have a 'type' to fall in love with? Don't you think it is something that either just hits you at first sight (and have had no chance to actually think about it), or you fall for someone you've known for a long time, and only yet have come to see things you didnt see before?

It is risky to think what type of boy you would ever fall for. Because the only thing it could possibly lead to, is affection for someone just because they meet the standarts you had set up in your mind rationality before.

Maybe your eyes will be set on all the foreign boys at a party, just because you qualify them as 'your type'. But then you take the risk of overlooking that one sweet american boy who might just have all inside him what really matters to you. But you forget to look at him.

There may be a lot of rationality (needed) in relationships and marriages, but love itself is a matter of the heart.

I never had a sweet 16.... heh anyways. This thread was not meant to find out about love really, just to find out why others feel so strongly about it. People try to persuade me daily that love exists even for me, but I've yet to see something to truely persuade me. And in being so broken, it's hard to feel that way about someone or even the subhect anymore. I used to be an extremely passionate person, that was sadly addicted to sex love romance and everything that comes with it(I'm still a virgin, but I'm still breaking out of the addiction even though it's hard to feel much anything anymore)

So yeah, hope u all had fun....I'm guessing there's not gonna be hardly any if at all more ppl here, so I guess just continue on my newest threat should be on the first page last time I checked. I guess this post will end?
