You are right, they use efendim. It's more polite. They use to say alo when they can't hear well. But no matter what they say when they answer the phone, I answer with a long, meaningful "aloooooooooooo"

My turkish is worse But I m lucky enough to be able to communicate in english. And OF COURSE I can say "alo" and "hadi bye" perfectly in their language lol

Ahhh I do the same but still, there is nothing like hearing the voice (there is actually. it's seeing the person in real and hearing him/her talk)

And don't tell me that I can hear it through the pc's mic, cause I hate technology! My mic is covered with dust and I have no idea why i ever bought it
