I think that the restrictions are so unfair and I hope they would be cancelled soon so you can travel freely like anyone else

and you can say: kabul ediyorum

It is really unfair that it is so hard for turkish citizens to even go on holiday in other countries. It took me and my husband four months to get a visa for going to my home country the first time.

I'm curious if any of you (Turks) have had to pay 75 ytl for the Turkish government when you go abroad? Apparently you have to do it everytime.

Yes. Everytime. It's 70 YTL by the way. At the beginning, it was USD 50 and it was very tiresome because you had to buy USD 50 and pay it as USD 50. Maybe it'll be 15 YTL in the near future (next year I guess) and those who don't have to pay for it will also pay from then on.

Personally, I think the restrictions are rather silly.

Of course restrictions are needed, but the extent to which these restrictions are enforced I see as ridiculous... for someone to visit me only for a week we have had to go through so much paperwork and complication...

I could understand this if England was not riddled with so many illegal immigrants scrounging off of our government and giving our country absolutely nothing in return...

I don't see how one person visiting me for a week needs to analysed and complicated any more than allowing the lazy idiots into our country which we do!
My opinion- it's unfair to overcomplicate some things which do not neccessarily need to be complicated, whilst handing out homes, luxuries and money to undeserving people.

...Just my opinion!

Of course there should be freedom of travel! If I can travel around almost all the world without any problems, because most visa are just formalities (only like Iran, Saoudi Arabia etc I need lots more) why shouldn't someone from Turkey be allowed to do the same? We are talking about a visit, a holiday, not emigration!

Not only European countries... It happens in the West as well. For instance, Most Caribbean nationals are welcomed to the US, while Haitan nationals have so many restrictions on travel that it is ridiculous. The reasons are sometimes more political than for security.
I think that restrictions on travel for Turks is especially shameful because it sends the message that they are simply not welcome in Europe. Totally disgusting...

It is a stupid thing, again. But there is a little solution: some countries do not have this visa stuff for Turkish nationals. I have to admit, a lot of them are (too) far away, and some of them I never would like to visit but some countries are really beautiful. And not all are extremely (more) expensive than other (West) European countries.

Here is the list you do not need a visa for: Andorra / Argentina / Bahamas / Bahrain / Barbados / Burkina-Faso / Burundi / Cameroon / Chad / Chile / Comoros / Costa Rica / Djibouti / Dominican Republic / Ecuador / El Salvador / Eritrea / Estonia / Gabon / Gambia / Ghana / Guatemala / Guinea / Honduras / Iceland / Indonesia / Ivory Coast / Jamaica / Japan / Croatia /Malawi / Malaysia / Mali / Malta / Monaco / Mauritania / Morocco / Myanmar / Nepal / Niger / Nigeria / Peru / Rwanda / Senegal / Sierra Leone / Singapore / Sri Lanka / Swaziland / Thailand / Togo / Tunisia / Uganda / Uruguay / Vietnam / Zaire / Zambia

actually shel_b_ann..illegal immigrants get no benefits in england..maybe u should do ur research..you are referring to asylum seekers and refugees..these groups receive benefits and money from england..illegal immigrants do not..
personally i dont care where someone comes from..if they want to work here they should be able to..legally as in paying tax and national insurance..maybe it would better if our own citizens worked instead of claiming benefits and moaning aboutr others 'stealing their jobs' when they are fully capable of working!of couyrse i am not refering old age pensioners or people who are incapable..just those who can but dont!

I agree here too....I don't see why they ask for much paper work to be filled, it just makes people not feel welcome and what bothers me most is that Turkey (not all turks agree with it though - nor do I) is trying to become part of Europe and yet Turks still have to go through so much trouble just visiting Europe, so if they want to become part of Europe at least let Turks visit the other damn countries.
Oof! çok sıkıntı ya!

It is the same in many countries. The reasons are mainly that people in the past from these countries have STAYED in the UK after saying they were just coming for a holiday.

However.....this is a good introduction to POLITICS ! So many people never bother to vote - if you feel strongly about such things, make sure you vote for the person who will change them next time

If you read what i actually wrote is says ''no direct control'' meaning i can vote as much as i like and i do but thats still not direct control. At the end of the day i am not the politician, that was my point. Also i would like to point out that i am not apathetic towards politics i am currently undertaking a degree at university strongly connected to it.
I am also very aware of the reasons for such policies on immigration i.e. people coming from some countries on a short term holiday basis and then just 'forgetting' to go back.Surprising how informed a person can be if they take an interest isnt it!

I think that typically it's really hard to get a visa the first time, but next time you want to go abroad it's a lot easier because they know they can 'trust' you.
We don't even need to give them a security note from the bank anymore.

Not so true. At least from what I see. I have been to Italy many times. The last one I tried to get was a real pain for me. Even they didn't like my bank account because the balance was not big enough and so they turned it down. I had to transfer some money to that account and re-apply. Oh boy, I like Italians but sometimes they give me hard times.

Yeah, that's true. They're really strict about the standards you have to meet, but when that's in order they will usually give you the visa.
In my case, we waited four months the first time and we almost gave up because they kept asking more and more questions and it was getting really expensive as well. The second the they gave the ok just three weeks after we had given them the application and they didn't ask for any guatantee from the host either.

Italy might be a special case. They have recently become much more stringent with regard to foreigners in the country, regardless of where you are originally from or whether you've applied successfully for a visa before...

Hey this is like another day at work.. hehe

I remember applying for my x's settlemtent visa it was soo easy. then applying for family member visitor visa for his mum and dad to visit first time it was not too bad...second time was a bit harder but they got it for 12 months instead of the 6 months maximum period..then applying for his brother to come over ( visitor visa again) they refused it! yet had all the correct info etc; they said our property was too small ( take into account that it was the same as the time we had his mother and father)!!
I work for the home office and was outraged byt this, i appealed the decission and took it to high court here in the UK. We got our visa..the judge agreed that his brother was disgriminated against because of his age..i wonder why they dont like single young males coming into the UK?lol.

I have since presented a formal compaint to the IND about national visa applications.. baised on the fact that young single male/females and copules applying for spouse visa when there an age gap ( particularly the woman being older) are neally always refused first or second time.

They are saying that they are looking further into this case, and that they intend to ammend requirements.!

yeah right liying toads!!

anyway...i just guess some of us are unfortunate and that hopefully it wont always be like this...dont give up if you are refused..if you given what was asked for and you can afford to accomodate someoone without recourse to public refunds make sure you appeal-- may be a long process but saves paying again and re-applying!!

))))))))))))))))))
