I will miss spending Christmas with my parents andmy brother's family. This year, for the first time in 28 years, I'll be away from them. I wish there was a way to both see them and sort out my personal problems that make me go Ireland...

I will spend Second Christmasday (we have two here) with my family, the first I don't know yet - depends of what plans my mum has, maybe I'll visit her. But to be honest: I hate Christmas - that dark and cold periode when everyone should be - like an obligation - happy.

Quoting susie k: Quoting bliss: How sad!
I just lost my dad .
If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to Heaven and bring him home again... |
HUGS to you I lost my DAD 3 years ago today
I'd love to just see him once more.................. |
Hugs to both of you!

Me too, i lost my father 2 years ago. And everytime i hear this song ( Dance with my father again - Lther Vandross) i cry. But this is one of my favorite song. Try listening to this one but be ready with a hanky. And my husband is back in turkey to serve the army. So im spending Christmas with my friends here in Canada coz my family is back in the Philippines. What a strange and a bit lonely Christmas it will be. Happy holidays to everybody.

My father died in 1996, over 10 years ago, and of course I still miss him when almost the whole family is together. But I miss him most when at holiday because I can't tell him about my experiences and he loved foreign countries. When possible I go to a church in every country I visit to light a candle for him or to dedicate a Mass for him (though I am not Catholic myself anymore, he was). In Japan I did not find a church so I lighted candles at several Shinto-temples, not the same but it's the thought that counts. In Turkey I did this in Istanbul and in Hatay.

This is true for me too. I think often...Dad would have loved it here. I even imagine the parts of the trip that would have excited or bored him. I also miss his looking at my pictures and him bragging to his friends about his 'tough' little girl taking on the world alone one country at a time. I'm sure your dad held the same pride in your adventures.
I guess it's just good to know that they loved us and the way we are today is somehow due to the things we learned watching and interacting with them.
To all who have lost loved ones...may your season be filled with warm, loving memories of them.

So true Capoeira, I can hear him say!
