as a matter of fact,no,they don't give 3/4 to the poor.
it goes like this 1/3 you keep for yourself,1/3 you give to your family,to make the family ties stronger,1/3 for the poor,to make them celebrate as same as you do.
And this sacrifice is or was for a reason.
İt is for the reason that,ALLAH kept İsmael HZ,the son of İbrahim HZ 'İbraham the prophet' kept him safe.
İt is well known that,when a prophet dream of something,it was like an order from ALLAH.'Rüya' we call it
So ALLAH wanted to test İbrahim HZ faith,and made him dream that he slaughtered his son 'İsmael HZ'
So İbrahim HZ went to his son,and told him,İsmael HZ told him,do as you've been orderd father.
So he took him,in Arafat 'its a mountain which Muslim go and Haj to it in Makka '
And he layed him down,and before he start the killing ALLAH brought a great sheep from the sky odering İbrahim HZ to stop.
'و فديناه بكبش عظيم'
Means,WE 'ALLAH' saved him and will slaughter a great sheep instead.
So since then,we celebrate that ALLAH saved prophet İsmale HZ from being slaughtered,buy doing same,and sharing the meat of this sheep with all the people,family,or poors.
