Just wanted to see why you all are interested in learning Türkçe. I, myself, am the son of Turkish-born parents, but because I was born and raised in Canada, I never learned the language. But I'm thinking of moving to Turkey, so I figured it's time I learnt the language (plus I'm going to have to do my military service there, so I better know the language!)

Hey. Yeah im kinda in the same position (apart from the army service). My dad is Turkish and my mother English, and was born and raised in England. I only know basic Turkish and it's hard not being able to have a proper conversation with my Grandparents on my fathers side. Me and my mother are also moving to Turkey in June once I have finished my exams, so i really could do with learning the language. I know lots of people there that talk English, my boyfriend and my dad especially, but it's not nice to be able to communicate with other family members and people who live there!!!!

I'm here because I'd like to learn Turkish lol, but it's impossible right now because I'm too busy . I love learning foreign languages and I always wanted to learn something completely different, so Turkish fits! And of course the most direct (important) reason is that my boyfriend is Turkish.

That's pretty weird not to have a reason, and of course you do! You just prefer being a brat . Anyways, in this thread you're supposed to talk about the reasons YOU HAVE, not the ones you DON'T HAVE . Just messing with you dear, I read about your sudden change of plans and going to Turkey instead of Australia heheh.

Q - surprise me with your reason for being here. Right now I'm thinking that it's messing around .

Dear catwoman, have I said anything bad above? I have just expressed my surprise.

As of today I have 308 posts in total on the different forums. If helping people learn Turkish more or less, and expressing my opinion on some other issues mean messing around you are right I am messing all around. I am terribly sorry.

Could you by any chance be refering to my posts contradicting your posts concerning some issues?

Must you log in the site in invisible mode, and as if you are watching us behind a one-way mirror, accuse people disagreeing with you on any subject of misbehaving, being narrow-minded,impolite, aggressive and so on. I can understand you are just trying to moderate as you are a moderator. However when someone contradicts you on anyting you had better reply him with your counter opinion instead of psychoanalysing his personality, if you can bear to be contradicted.

If you stop logging in in invisible mode and watching us behind one-way mirror, and let us see your user name on the online users list we will watch our words, and moderate ourselves. So you won't have to moderate us all the time and waste your time.

That's why I have said all the things above I think you are, both as moderator and person, open to critism.

Thank you.

Dear qdemir,
I'm not surprised by what you said, this obviously would follow knowing you. Black and white, full of false accusations that fit your own perception and belief of my standpoint on certain issues, arguments... You must also truly believe that I'm a witch with one eye and seven fingers. Therefore... no point talking.
Just as a side note to some awaking senses in you, I wrote what I wrote above as a response to your sarcastic - rather noneducational, therefore out of an entirely different purpose for you being here, other then the one I thought - remark as a reply to Robyn's comment.

P.S. If you have personal problems or questions about how things work, ask me in private.

Why I'm here? First I came for reading about Turkey and trying to pick up some Turkish, to get help with my homework - which is given in a great way. And later I found some friends to talk with. But also just because of making fun (or when I'm bored...).

Hi,
I know this might seem a common answer to the question which is my girlfriend is Turkish, and I want to learn for her and her family but since I joined the forum learning Turkish my relationship and circumstances have become more important for me to learn Turkish. My girlfriend speaks very good English and sometimes I am annoyed with myself because I want to have a small conversation with her in her native tongue, as time and my relationship progress it is more important to learn Turkish my plan is to teach English in Istanbul this may sound very nice but importantly you must be able to communicate in Turkish also. I have found the forum very useful and will continue to learn at my snail pace. I find I am picking up words all the time just communicating with my girlfriend I always think this is the best way to learn a new language is to speak to a native speaker everyday it could be your partner or a good friend little by little you can really learn better, I find my Turkish phrase books differ so much with different publishers.

I am as many, many others here for learning turkish The forum is a good motivator for me. Since I'm learning on my own it's rewarding to see other people conquer some of the same language barriers I'm struggling with. It helps me not feel so alone about learning it. And, of course it's also a good way to communicate with people in the same situation as me and discuss current news in Turkey. Somehow I feel a little bit closer to Turkey when using this forum

Why am i here? Well, first of all, to learn, to speak and write turkish language. I love studying different geographical locations, assorted cultures, traditions and of course language is included to understand more and to avoid language barriers besides having a half-turkish/chinese bestfriend. I am a wild reader and knowledge of different languages, i think, is important if not a must.
