Yes you are right. 'Elveda' is so much more emotional than saying 'good-bye' in English. When you say 'elveda' you are actually saying that "this is the end of this love story. I will remember you. I have enjoyed the time we had together but it isnt possible to keep it going. Please forgive me. I wish you happines in your life.".

I think elveda was exactly the right word to use and yes it still brings many tears to my eyes.

"Elveda" can be very emotional or very cool.
The difference between "good-bye" and "elveda" is not in their emotional levels, but in their degrees of finality.
"Elveda" is the ultimate final "good-bye", never to return.
- You can tell "elveda" to your old boss, immediately after he fires you; you dont have to be in love with him.
- A foreign country that you did not enjoy also deserves an "elveda" as you are leaving, while the plane takes off; expressing your dislike and wish to never return.
- "elveda" is a very handy last word, if you are passing away. It will make absolutely no difference whether you utter it emotionally or cool,

Yes it has broken my heart and in a way that i will just have to live with for the rest of my life. But i do appreciate all the posts on this site from you all. I have used so much from this site that has brought more meaning to my situation.
