Turkey is indeed a country of strangeness... (and apparently so is Greece) :-S.

This is just ridiculous. Let's all hope that the ones who decided this will soon come to reason and put YouTube back online for Turkish citizens.

They complain about this one video against Atatürk. Have they actually seen how much videos there are on YouTube that are actually promoting Turkey and Atatürk?

Who can decide? And for what reason? I see that as a bunch of over zealous individuals that can't take criticism from anybody. I would hate to see what media I would be allowed to see if all media that spoke poorly about the U.S. were banned. HMMMMMM. There would be a big, black, sound proof tent around my house, and they would take away my computer, plus lock me into prision and then try to muzzle me if I weren't allowed to criticize my country and it's leaders...no matter how sanctimonous they appear!

Long live free speech!

Don't you think for a bit that banning a website because of one video goes too far?

One's freedom stops where another one's freedom begins. This includes that you shouldn't insult other people. But insulting has two sides: the one that insults, the one that takes the insult. Don't you think this is very childish and sensitive to respond in such a way to an insult? If you are sure of who you are and what you represent, one insult won't pull you down. It only shows lack of maturity and selfrespect (bana kalırsa) if you are this offended by an insult.

ANyway this article wasnt posted to start a discussion and I am sure everybody will now think that I hate Turkey etc. etc. etc. But I couldnt help myself not to respond to this. As Catwoman says, they decided to learn more from China..

Well fine...if I "insult" my previous leaders...I should be allowed to do it! However, it appears in Turkey that there isn't a difference between 'insult' and 'criticism'. I'm sure this will start a rash of angry turkish reactions. THank God I don't live there as surely they would be trying to put me in jail for 'speaking' against turkishness!!

I dont know if there is a difference, because from my experience.. there is no such thing as criticism anyway. This is something that makes me rather sad because I love this country and through criticism it could be improved and I would love it even more then!

However, I think though someone should have the freedom to insult (not because I think its good, but because the difference between insult and criticism CAN be really small), I think someone should use their freedom not to insult

self critism and all sort cristisms allowed for make things better, but some of people using this freedom very indifferent way,and some places become are of this indifferents.so its better sometime to make dry swamp for to be busy with flies...(İ'm always on side of freedoms, but when used in true way)
