What would be your 3 top wonders of Turkey? Which work of arts?(can be a mosque, a church, a bridge, a statue, ruins, any kind of building etc.)

Mine would be Sultanahmet (Blue) mosque (İstanbul), Balıklıgöl (Şanlıurfa), and Nemrut statues (Adıyaman).

Well, thank you for your suggestions Yilgun! Not being a Roman Catholic I think I will give the Virgin Mary House a miss, but thanks anyway .

I guess Meltem was asking us each our own personal choice, so I just listed mine

The Virgin Mary's house is important from a historical perspective. She is written about in both the Koran and the Bible.

Ohmygod, is this going to turn into an argument!!!? I am sure its very nice and very interesting, it just wasn't in my TOP 3 WONDERS OF TURKEY choices!!!! Instead of criticising MY choices, doesn't anyone want to add theirs?????

Yes, everyone is free to choose theirs. There're so many nice and historically important places. This was just both for fun and sharing different places.

And yılgun, you have written Istanbul and Karadeniz district, but they are so general, I was expecting more specific answers because just in İstanbul there're hundreds of mosques, churches and so many...

Meltem!!! I cannot believe you started such a controversial thread!! Really! I am sure it must be against forum rules to talk about nice things in Turkey.....

Well that kind of spoils the point of the thread doesn't it! If enough people post their choices (instead of criticising other's choices!!!) maybe we wont pass the others

Meltem - today we posted things about Islam, Sexism, Marriage... who would have ever guessed that THIS would be the controversial thread lol

I know mrx, it cannot be limited to 3 or 10, and each of them is unique, but it was for the sake of creating a topic, one person could have written all the wonders at once, it was just for getting some contribution. And thanks for the video link, I watched it, it was nice.

Maybe, people had enough of controversing with these same subjects over and over, and looked for a new to controverse. Afterall a day cannot pass without any contreversy.
