If the bridge of friendship involves telling all "foreigners" to stay out of Turkey (unless they are rich tourists of course), telling us how evil we are, telling us we don't care about the dead in Iraq and telling us we have no right to discuss Turkey, then please tell me what your Bridge of Hatred is.....I would dearly love to see it!

What's this?

I think It's a troll. A good one.

owww i think someone or somebodies hurt you badly on here or in real??but Turkey is a wonderfull fruit tree,so good and bad fruits on it,so never left from the nice shadow of this tree and trust its friendly shadow

Nobody has hurt me MrX67 Such things dont hurt me personally - but they certainly change my thoughts about people

In reading posts here I have not seen anyone telling foreigners to stay out of Turkey. However, it is not unreasonable to expect one's guests to be respectful of one's own home.

I have on the other hand seen you (and the other gang of 3) being insulting and abusive regarding Turkish and Islamic culture. Instead of engaging in a dialogue that would fruther understanding and tolerance, you seem to want things your way and do not seek to find the wisdom of any other way.

Your cultural Imperialism reeks in most all of your posts. You disrespect the ideals and values of others and heap insults on those that do not agree with you want.

Words are powerful. They can help create peace and happiness or reap disharmony and contempt. I would advise you to be more sensitive and thoughtful in your posts and perhaps wait a while and reread and rethink your posts.

It appears to me that if you love your culture so much, why are you going to Turkey and spending time on a Turkish forum? Or is it that you like the beaches and sun in Turkey and would prefer to just transplant your culture there and get rid of the actual Turkish culture. Anyway, that's what it looks like, and I might mention that Briton does have a long history in that area.

Alameda, I repeat, are you going to qualify your slanderous post with proof that I have been insulting and abusive of Islamic culture?

Dear Alameda,
As you are so fond of telling us, you are from the USA. Therefore you will not be welcome in Turkey (according to these posts) until your country also lifts it's visa restrictions.

Please tell me if you feel any of the quotes below signify a “warm welcome” from Turkey. Please also tell me if you think any of THESE comments are disrespectful or abusive?

A few choice quotes which you may have missed :-

AlphaF:
"You need not worry about your summer houses in Turkia, if Turks are allowed to legally buy similar property in England".

Mr. X67:
"..our great country will be very hosbitable and very welcomed for the foreigners in the reciprocity rules..."

AlphaF
"...Popular and growing public objection to foreigners buying land or property in Turkia, need worry only citizens of those countries where Turks are barred from enjoying reciprocal rights and priviledges"

AlphaF
...Before you speak of Dutch and Brit racism, take a good look at Africa and India....it took those native buggers years to realize it was a mistake to sell their houses in the first place."

AlphaF:
"It may come as a surprise to some people, but there are times when you carry riches from other countries by shiploads, yet then a time comes to pay back."

AlphaF:
"I dont think there will be many Indians or Pakistanis left in England when they eventually collect what you guys owe them. Until then, enjoy the curry.
The rumour is that the Island will soon be flooded by waters from melting icebergs, anyway"

And...Alameda, I am still waiting for an answer to your slanderous post where you acuse me of making abusive comments regarding Islam.

Alameda, yes it's true stated by a few classmates here "Turkey hates America". So if your as fortunate as KeithL to get into Turkey, you will be lucky. As an fyi, you may want to remove this from your profile. Unless, you decide to be anti-american here, then you will be most accepted.

I'm just thankful our beloved admin lives in the U.S. and doesn't harbor such ill feelings for us terrible Americans.
If that wasn't the case, there maybe a rule: Sorry, no Americans shall join Turkish Class, unless you leave your guns at the door.

There is a difference between hating Americans and hating American political policy. I think the disdain for the current American policy is a constant in almost every nation in the world right now. Turkey is not the only member of this non-exclusive club.
The only time that I see instances of resentment of foreigners here is when jobs go to foreigners. I think this resentment is also worldwide with natives and foreigners, regardless of country.

Alameda, you have made allegations about me in this personal attack (which by the way, for someone who loves to quote rules at me, is AGAINST forum rules). I am well aware that you didn't like me disagreeing with you on a number of occasions and presumably you decided this was a good opportunity to get some kind of personal revenge.

Dont even BEGIN to tell me about my country's history. I am not proud of some of my country's past, and have never pretended otherwise. I will not copy the trend of others on this forum by insulting your country just because you insult mine, but if I did - it would take me all night!!!

I would like you to justify your comment that I am abusive and disrespectful about Islam. The rest of your comments are based on your assumptions of my character, and therefore, while completely unfounded, I really dont care to justify to someone like YOU.

First of all, you have no idea of what my nationality is. My profile says I'm in the USA, it does not say anything regarding my ethnicity or sex. The USA is a multicultural multiethnic society where at this time there are a great amount of disagreements on the current path taken.

I did not say you insulted Islam, I said "Turkish and Islamic culture". There is a difference.

As for who I am and what I'm like, you have no idea.
This has nothing to do with personal revenge, it's about the desire to have a more civil discourse and stop the infantile insults and veiled innuendos.

It is obvious the Gang of Three has insulted quite a few here with off hand remarks regarding others cultures.

At this particular time in history we must tread very lightly. Do you not agree?

Alameda, you state, on every possible occasion, that you are from the USA. I really have no interest in what ethnicity you are, but I know you are female The UK is also a multicultural multiethnic society. So? What is your point?

Show me where my "cultural imperialism reeks in most all my posts"?

Quoting alameda:

Is this the best you could come up with? Oh dear Alameda! I have never insulted Islamic culture. I have criticised (not insulted) some aspects of the culture, but not Islam itself. I may have written over 3000 posts, but I know this without checking I have CERTAINLY never insulted either. Are you mixing up the word "insult" with "criticism"?

You too, dear sweet Alameda, have criticised Islamic culture and I CAN (unlike you) prove what I say! Just check your comments about the ISLAMIC CULTURE of virginity before marriage

Adios!

This is a perfect example of criticism of a Turkish or Islamic culture :-

Quoting alameda:

This has been a very interesting conversation thus far.

However, I'd like to comment regarding the cult of virginity that exists in various cultures, including Christian and Muslim.

First, it is just about impossible to determine one's virgin state if the proof is seen to be bleeding on the wedding night by the bride. There is a problem with this is that all virgins do not bleed.

Even if the lady does bleed, is it because she was a virgin, or did she have had plastic surgery to repair a hymen?

In other words, I think much too much attention is placed on purely physical attributes.

The very tragic result is lives are ruined based on faulty expectations and information.

Here is your problem Alameda . You insist on saying I am part of this Gang of Three, and because of this you confuse MY posts with Catwoman and Femme Fatal's.

Unfortunately, so convinced of this gang that you are, you miss a fundemental point. Whilst I share Catwoman's and Femme's views on sexual equality and feminism (even then, the extent we agree differs on some points), with regard to Islam and Turkish culture, I believe I have very different views.

Perhaps next time you should check your facts before launching into a personal attack on me.
