PS I researched the other one. It is a bit expensive (31 pounds). The blurb in books inprint says:
"Turkish: A Comprehensive Grammar" is a complete reference guide to modern Turkish grammar. Concentrating on the real patterns of use in modern Turkish, it presents a detailed and systematic description of the structure of language at every level - sounds, words and sentences - and will remain the standard reference work for years to come. Drawing upon a rapidly growing body of scholarly research on Turkish, this well-presented Grammar is a stimulating and up-to-date analysis of the complexities of the language, with full and clear explanations and examples throughout.
A detailed index and extensive cross-referencing between numbered subsections also provides readers with easy access to the information they require. The features include: detailed treatment of common grammatical structures and parts of speech; extensive use of examples, all with English translations; particular attention to areas of confusion and difficulty; and a comprehensive glossary of all grammatical terms. The "Grammar" is an essential reference source for intermediate and advanced learners and users of Turkish.
It is ideal for use in schools, colleges, universities and adult classes of all types.
I have placed an order for this today for Greenhouse Bookstore

Can I photocopy it ?
Turkish Grammar is a very good book but it is a reference book not a study one.
It is useful for Turkish teachers and for advanced students.

As I said above, we have one in stock (Greenhouse on Asian side) but we are closed next 2 weeks for holidays
I dont recommend Lewis book to people wanting to learn conversational Turkish as it is like a serious university textbook (e.g. in teaching the alhabet it teaches you the Tukish name for the line that is put above the g to make it into yumuşak g: I made a short survey of my Turkish friends and didnt find anyone who knew what it is called!')
It is ideal for the very serious intermediate or advanced student who wants a lot of detail

Quoting qdemir: gezbelle, I would like to know your review about 'Turkish Grammar' by GL.

qdemir...i haven't read the whole book. it was really interesting and helpful to start off with, especially with the pronunciation of certain turkish letters.
but i don't have a linguistic background and it seems to go down that path. so it may lose some readers along the way.
i will have to try and pick it up again and read it to the end.

Thank you, gezbelle. You are right you should have some linguistic background, and I think it is difficult to follow up the book. It seems to be in the format of an article. But it is one of the best books ever written on the grammar of the Turkish language (for TSL / TFL students / learners).
