They used to do it for the girls only once when they are young,as i said exactly as boys.

Edited: as i said in Egypt,they dont do it like that at every childbirth.
They used to do it to the girls once in young age.
But its still something horrible not in İslam nor Christianity and against the law here too.

As far as I can see, only ONE person is blaming Islam. Lets not turn this into a religious issue. It is a cultural issue and a horrible one.
And Canli I was referring to the extreme "circumcision/butchery" which occurs in Somalia. After they are "healed" girls are cut "open" with a knife on their wedding night and then cut open further everytime they have a child. They then have to be sewn up and have their legs tied together after each child, to "heal" up again.
But I guess it's worth it because apparently it increases the man's pleasure.
What a wonderful world...

Indeed, it is a cultural thing, not a religious. People from all religion do it, so lets not blame the religion but the people who do this!
But the problem is that is does NOT only occur in Egypt, Somalia, Sudan and some neighbouring countries! It happens in many more, mostly in secret, like Gambia, Mali, Sierra Leone, Malaysia, Indonesia, Jemen. It also happens in western Europe, the US, Canada etc. by immigrants who take their daughters on a 'nice' vacation....

According to that bbc article in the post above 90% of the women in Egypt had this 'operation'. Isn't that an awful thought? Good for Egypt they banned it! And I hope offenders are punished quite hard!
