Well if the Army do move in, I guess Meltem will be supporting them.

I can see what you are saying (that you fear an Islamic State) Meltem, but don't you see the IRONY that you are asking for army intervention to defend democracy and therefore by that very act you just ignore voters and just create a different "state" which is not democratic

he will be president at the end of august and you all have to accept that someone whose wife is headscarved in turkey could be president 47 % turks aproved it.. no matter what you say..this is democracy.. and i am so happy i love to see you narrow minded people so angry

You are being funny.
I support any military intervention if Gül becomes president for the name of DEMOCRACY.

The timing is very important. Yes, I do support that army take care of the situation if the future of our democracy and our principle of secularism become in bare danger. At this moment, I do not support any intervention because it will make the things worse. The army make declarations which I find very necessary just to make everyone be aware that his eye is and will be on them. In the coming months, years, whatever, in a or a series of bare antidemocratic, antilaic acts, decisions, then I'll support that a coup d'état takes place, but it's not because I like militarist regime but because I like my democratic laic republic.

Ohhh ohhh myyy God (or Aman allahım), what did Sezer do? Do you say this??? I don't know what you read to get the news, but Sezer was one of the best presidents that has come to Turkey after Atatürk.

Anyway, let not discuss this.

And we are not afraid of Abdullah Gül, we are afraid that he will be just a puppet for the aims of islamists and the exterior islamist regime supporters.

Don't you see? There is NO answer. MEN tend to revert to tribe behaviour in politics, just the same as they do with football. The only thing that matters is that HIS team "won" so he loves them! lol lol lol

how you know that i voted Baykal? your thoughts are such a nonsense...
you say my country but then you say i wont defend it becoz i live here?
for how many years those coastal road is under construction do you know that? maybe more than ten years if they finished it that doesnt mean that they work good... and we will see what will happen those roads when winter comes...

and about Sezer i think it was enough for him to be elected as president as he was the head of the independent courts once... but i dont support all of his actions too..

my friend you cant support a party or person like you support steven gerard... you should look what they are doing... anyway... we will see...

for example he was the most successful foreign minister. he made a very good relations with EU.and also he was prime minister for a few months..and he is known all over the world . and also he was minister of state in 96-97. and also he worked for Islam Development Bank which is one of the most important foundation of the world. do you expect a new Ataturk? or a prophet? i wonder what a president candidate should be like..

and i wonder what Sezer or former presidents deserved to be president? can yu tell me? for example what demirel did? what Sunay, Evren, Gürsel did?

i am not biased..i used to like Sezer too. He was one of the most democratic presidents of Turkey Republic. and he also deserved to be president. they both are well educated and experienced enough.

your needing visa is not about relations with EU..to request visa is not for only turks..if you are out of EU you cant get in without visa. i meant something much deeper than visa by relations..i mean he took very important steps to become a member of EU..i mean deliberation with EU..

whatever..i just answered your question and i know he was a court..do you know the most famous novelist of Turkey was in a court too? you could be in a court too for some resons..but you know it doesnt mean you are guilty..

Strange. I thought he is the worst ever. if it is success to say yes to everyhing then he is successful.
You should know how to say no sometimes.
He doesn't deserve to be a president. I don't like him. Maybe I am biased. Anyway.

oh come on if they were good about the relations with our beloved EU, they could make it us enter or they could make us known as somehow member to that... my saying about visa is simply because of that... then things would be much more easier...

and how can you compare the court of Orhan Pamuk and that swingling, it is strange... and also being a good known writer doesnt mean that he can talk about anything everywhere... everybody should do their own business... so where is Orhan Pamuk now? thats another story... and he was found guilty my friend... he was sentenced to pay that money back...

he can talk very good... he can have very good english... but that doesnt mean that he is working good!

a president for me? if he is equal and doing his job very well... than there is no problem for me... i have told before his wife even can pose with bikini... but i look for work... they have done nothing... and they wont do anything...

my friends girlfriends father is a very good friend of our beloved president Erdogan... and guess what... nearly all TOKI constructions is being made by him... what a coincidence huh?...

wake up man... wake up... i am a son of a retired police officer... we didnt earn anything for the rest five years... just the gang of Tayyip earns... no one else...

The gap between rich and poor is increasing rapidly. most of the workers get 450 YTL a month(£18 whereas big multinational companies don't even pay taxes. They say they are against the USA imperialism, but there is still an american base in Turkey( in adana). Education is biased. Democracy is biased. People are biased because of the education. Most kids are learning subjects with-out comprehending. And we expect these people to vote. I m telling every one now, that AKP will not lift %10 election barrier, and they will claim that they are democratic. I would call this aristocracy because if you do what big companies tell you, the media supports you and thanks to the herd instinct, this is the result. I can go on, but these are some of the reasons to why i don't like Mr Gul and his saz arkadaslari

It's just because I'm concerned about things going on in my country and in the world and I try not to be blind as much as possible. If you cannot see somethings which are indeed very evident, it's your ignorance. I just use the brain and eyes and ears that God has given to me.

then.. 47 % of these people are not concerned about things going on our country. awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww poor stupid turks..they are such poor blind people that they cant use their eyes and brains..but mltm from france can use her ears, eyes and brain and can see what is good for our country..forgive our ignorence mltm lol

Offf, you really don't know how to debate. I can very well debate with the level you do and I can enjoy it as well, but I'm really preparing my bags for tomorrow to FRANCE. You can very well be a Turk in France as well.
You can get your news wherever you are and then the important is what you understand from what you read how deeply you can see things, what you're concerned of (fulling your pocket or trying to leave a better planet for your children, how you love your country and flag) and it also depends on your ideology (and I really wonder about yours), on the level of your education, on the size of your brain etc, there're a lot of factors you see.
We can talk about (and we have talked about it a lot I think) on a sociological perspective why they got 47% votes, for sure not now.

Turkey argued if Abdullah Gul can be president or not for more than 6 months..Why?Is that our habit?actually no..i guess noone knew about Ahmet Necdet Sezer before "he was dictated to us" as a president..
So whats the metter now?
In order that Abdullah Gul doesnt come from the roots of "status quo"; militarial and civil bureaucracy, that has a huge power to effect our choices, doesnt want to accept "anyone out of them" doing good. And they hugely effect our ideas with a lot of ways to create public press to legalise and dictate their ideas.
However Abdullah Gul proofed that he is a successful politician who deserves to be our president..
I understand the people who are not happy about his precidency.but i am sure they will also admire his success as a president after sometime pass..

How on earth can you say you "hate politics"? You are just happy to sit there being happy? You whole happiness (even on your being "here and now") DEPENDS on politics.

Ouh your post made me so angry Mylo!!! Even if I see it as a “joke” post, I am sure there are elements of truth in it. What a lazy “me” society we have become, where people don’t even both to vote anymore.

You take so much for granted – your basic human rights, equality, democracy – yet you are probably the first to moan about government decisions or your quality of life. You say you “hate politics” but I am sure you discuss politics hundreds of times a day without even knowing it.

Anyway, if you really hate all the above ("including anything to do with any countries past/present/future") what on earth are you doing on this website? lol

1) he had an succesful period of some presidence..
2) he ie now our president
3) he never supported any islamic goverment. at that time he was objected to necmettin erbakan.. (there in more reasons)
4) i dont support military regime coz if we manage ourselves with democracy there cant be any armies speech.. Can u think that England goes to election coz of military decleration? This is impossible but İn turkey it is possible.. i's like to be managed by democracy not military rules..
5) i still believe that turkey will be more democratic, the goverment would manage based on ppl not itself, and also supprting EU memberhsip...
