foreign women wake up!!!

Quoting Kazantzakis"in the world there is only one woman with so many different faces"and reading some threads here makes me think that we foreign women are so susceptible to the compliments paid by Turkish males.
Wake up...these are only compliments nothing else..so shallow without any deep meaning.
But unfortunately they get their targets and make women vulnerable and later make them suffer..exposing this suffering in more or less weeping posts!
I wonder if it is only naivety or desire to be one special in the world?just a queen for that one...but usually that one has more than one queen to worship in real or virtual life..

I am sure that you don't mean "every" foreign woman and "every" Turkish man. I think that this is the behavior of some men who work on resorts and some vacationers who go to these resorts. I don't think it is fair to judge the entire male population of Turkey and all female foreigners by the translation requests and situations on a website. It seems very unfair. But then again, I can only speak thru my own experiences and all the wonderful people I have met since I have known my husband (who is Turkish).

I think kafesteki kus defined very clearly what she's referring to when she said "foreign women wake up", so really there's no need to be getting defensive about it. And it's not "SOME" men who lie from those you meet on your vacations, but it's "SOME" who don't.

I did not imply that she wasn't clear but was merely adding my perspective which was not meant to seem defensive.

oh god thats well said-SOME men who will NOT lie...
that is why sometimes-i get a "panic atack" when reading translatios- awwrrrrr what if my turkish "boyfriend" is a player-and what if i am sharing him with e.g another user here on TC... - it`s a small world- it could actually happen..

I just think it is wrong to assume that EVERY foreign woman met her Turkish man at a resort (or where ever in Turkey) and fell for some compliments and a handsome face. Not all of us are in that situation. Not all of us need translations. I just have a different view, I guess.

I do not judge the whole population..I am just wondering, wondering, wondering.I put this thread just because of my Turkish friend. He got married a month ago to a beautiful, hard working, good Muslim girl.Of course he loves her he says but it is not an obstacle for him to have virtual contacts with others telling them they are the most beautiful he has ever seen.He is not from holiday resort,in the eyes of society he is a decent family man!
so what is the matter???lack of self esteem in case of some men?low self esteem or just desire for some adventure?or perhaps Sultan's attitude?
And of course i agree on all nice people you have met but it is not a point...I think some women give an opportunity for Turks to cheat and behave in this conquering way. And later face the music...perhaps it is because men in Europe lost their ability to worship a woman being concentrated on making career or something else...

just to add more colours..not only SOME,I repeat SOME foreign women are naive and vulnerable to compliments but also men..let me share funny story with you..
2 days ago I was asked to translate a sentence from my mother tongue(polish) into English by my old friend(a male)...to my surprise next time another request for the same sentence came, just the very next day from different friend from different part of Turkey!!!! it turned out it is the same girl..haha cheating both of them and perhaps more than both it made me in such a good mood..at least not only women are victims of virtual game

Sure does, no country is imune....did you ever see the film Gaslight? It is an amazing film, from 1944.
From the film's title, "gaslighting" acquired the meaning of ruthlessly manipulating an individual, for nefarious reasons, into believing something other than the truth.

Elizabeth, I think you are really a bit defensive here. Nobody is "so guarded" here by stating that many men cheat, this is simply the REALITY. Yes, ALL nationalities have men who cheat, but we are talking about Turkish men here that so many foreign women get cheated by, don't minimize that by saying that it's "normal". We all know that not everybody is a lier, but it's important to realize and clearly state that we have to be a bit cautious about the overly charming Turkish and non-Turkish men and we have to warn young women about it!

Ok Catwoman, you seem determined to minimalize my feelings and opinions, I never said anything about it being normal to be cheated on. I am certainly not being defensive I am just stating my opinion since it is posted on a public forum. I am not saying anything so different from you and I was trying to point out that everyone must be cautious everywhere. I think because this is a turkish language website, we focus on Turkey of course, but I was trying to say this could happen anywhere.

Whatever the reason, this behavior is UNACCEPTABLE and shouldn't be ever tolerated. We may try to understand the "reasons" only in order to change this behavior.

I see your point Elizabeth, but the way you say this, you sound like "it's not such a big deal because it happens everywhere". If you want to convey that this kind of stuff also happens in other places, I think you should at the same time emphasize that it really is a problem in Turkish culture and especially how it relates to female tourists who get cheated notoriously by Turks. I'm glad that you think we are really talking about the same thing, I just thought that the way you stated your opinions could be very easily seen as "justification" and "minimalization" of the problem.
And by the way, I do think that there ARE cultural differences regarding the EXTENT to which men cheat, it's not all the same.

if you refeer here to the usual set of adverbs, you are the... most/best/ever/never/always, where one will add beautiful/wonderful/sweet etc. or the sevgilimcanimsekerimtatlibebegim... i would say Hell! now that is NOT a compliment...
What is a compliment? a thoughtfull wish ment to make you feel... complimented. Now, why would someone feel special if it was told you are the most.... and i never felt like... and i always feel your... etc., etc.
These 'compliments' denote but the laziness of a mind.
These are the easiest things to say in the world. A compliment should have style. If one would receive a 'compliment' like the majority of what i saw in translation... in this case you may as well shoot yourself... or dump the guy as fast as you can. Lest he manages to get some style, wit and the undeniable desire to get you off from your feets. But the latter takes ages, usually...so...

Be careful and awaken from the mentality of Middle-Eastren men!
The famous novelist from Egypt who won the Nobel prize in 1988 (Naugib Mahfouz) in one of his novels had carified what is the real mentality of men in this area... that for those men West mean women, sex and softness while East is man, power and to be dominating...
He is starting his novel with the imagination of a man wanting to go to Paris, France in 19th centurey and how many love adventure he will get their,,,!

Dear Trudy wish you understand me more , Turkey has affected much by the war in Iraq, cause in past this country was depending on the oil that exported via Turkey and the economy of Turkey since 1990 harmed so much by the wars in this region,,, so when economy changed the social life will change as well... woman maybe one of the consequences.

Your last sentence says it all: women may be one of the consequences as if we are not human! No, we feel the consequences of the silly/stupid/moron/dangerous/dominant actions of men. Some day women will not accept that approach any more. Be warned, it could be sooner than you think!

You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Anyplace is better
Starting from zero got nothing to lose
Maybe we'll make something
But me myself I got nothing to prove
You got a fast car
And I got a plan to get us out of here
I been working at the convenience store
Managed to save just a little bit of money
We won't have to drive too far
Just 'cross the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs
And finally see what it means to be living
You see my old man's got a problem
He live with the bottle that's the way it is
He says his body's too old for working
I say his body's too young to look like his
My mama went off and left him
She wanted more from life than he could give
I said somebody's got to take care of him
So I quit school and that's what I did
You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so we can fly away
We gotta make a decision
We leave tonight or live and die this way
I remember we were driving driving in your car
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
You got a fast car
And we go cruising to entertain ourselves
You still ain't got a job
And I work in a market as a checkout girl
I know things will get better
You'll find work and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter
Buy a big house and live in the suburbs
You got a fast car
And I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at the bar
See more of your friends than you do of your kids
I'd always hoped for better
Thought maybe together you and me would find it
I got no plans I ain't going nowhere
So take your fast car and keep on driving
You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so you can fly away
You gotta make a decision
You leave tonight or live and die this way

Serdar, I must say you are a really really calm person.
If I was an iraqi, another country would come into my country, remove my goverment by force, dismantle my army by force, try to erase my history, cause one million people got killed, cause 4 million people displaced, and knowing the fact that my country had nothing to do with 9/11 and knowing the fact that, that army is just in my country because of my oil,

Excuse me,but i dont really get it !
Who are we talking about here ?
Aren't we talking about girls who knew how to deal with men ,and done it well back there in their own countries ?!
Aren't they same girls who wont fall for 'İ Love YOU' from a man in her own country whom she's just met ?!
İ knew some foreigners ladies and girls ,met some, and i cant describe them of being naive at ALL !
So, what is happening to them in Türkiye ,what is happening to them?!
Aren't they same persons ?
And if you add, that person who say 'İ love YOU' 'You are my moon'...ect he doesnt talk their language, and they dont talk his language too.
Wont that tell them something ?!
İm sorry, but i dont think foreigners are naives and Turkish men,or any men can fool them.'İf they are fooling'
İ guess those women are fooling themselves, and allow those men to fool them too.
God !
They dont even understand each others, they cant talk properly, how in God's name they can love each other ?!

So we are talking about woman who are naive, and vulnerable.
And i dont think all women neither naive nor vulnerable.
Except of course for some personal stiuations.
So are all women who got to Türkiye are naive, and vulnerable ?
Men are men all over the world,if they are cheaters, they will try to cheat you no matter where are they,or where are you.
So,why not allowing them back home, and allowing them in Türkiye ?!

The thread title is 'foreign women wake up'
So we are talking about woman who are naive, and vulnerable.
Canli - you are making it more complicated then it really is, it's like looking for excuses. The main problem is that most men you meet on a vacation in TR will lie to you just to have sex or get money from you - plain and simple. And the topic is - foreign women wake up and realize that!
We are not necessarily talking about naive and vulnerable women, but even if we were, the main complaint is that those men lie and they are often very good at it. There's no excuse for doing that! Or are you saying that if a woman can be cheated because she's naive, then it's ok to do that???? So if you are 'stronger', then it's ok to exploit the 'weaker'??? What does it mean "it takes two to tango" in this context? That the woman has to be suspicious on every step of the way, spy on him.... to make sure he's not a lier? It takes two to make a relationship but it may take only one to ruin it.
What does it mean 'men are men all over the world'? Men cheat in other countries, so don't single out turkish men? No dear, we will single out all those nationalities and in this particular web site we are concerned with turkish men. Men are also humans and they are perfectly capable of making the right choices.

They are men like all men,so judge them same way you judge any man,use your mind and judge.

He promised you the moon and the stars , so if you need him, will he be really there for you ?
Just judge him as any man you knew...they are MEN

I think this is more than just throwing the blame. Because if someone sweetalks you, without actually doing what he says, that is indeed cheating. And cheating can be blamed, and should be. This is a staring point in taking an attitude. But against cheating, cheaters and not all men. The issue is to avoid cheating.

I am pretty skeptical about love, having been fooled by American men. The first part of love happens when you meet someone and doesn't involve words as much as nonverbal communication (and scientists say phermones). Where it goes from there involves the brain for sure. Meeting my then Turkish boyfriend's parents almost a year ago showed me this isn't a joke for him. His concerted effort at communication (and mine)and the sadness at my leaving, yet support and strength. There are many things that let me know it is genuine, if it isn't, he is the best actor I have ever met. (God forbid!) If someone really has no regard for another persons emotions and intends to take advantage of them, I'm not sure there is much the other person can do. Everyone can be fooled. How you choose to live your life from then on is important, and what you choose to learn from it. I choose to try to keep my heart open but my mind very keen. Helping those who have been fooled learn something would be helpful. Being harsh and judgemental is hurtful.

A woman has to choose carefully, my opinion. It is not about being suspicious, though. Maybe trust harder, and let facts proove the deepness of a relationship. And this is a mature attitude in life. It is necessary to see who are you just planning to live with. It is no need rushing into a marriage, unless you're shure it is a good long-term decision. And only if a longterm-relationship, than we can talk about a possible "ruining" by one of the persons involved.

I agree...
I must admit that i even slightly despise this kind of lying.
That is why i think that helping others to spot this kind of cheatings is a very efficient way to fight cheaters, in the meantime. It is very unlikely that a conscious lier, a cheater will change attitude just by being told this is not a nice thing he does.

catwoman what excuses that am i looking for ?
Did i said, its ok for men to cheat ?!
İ thought what i am saying is very much clear !
You are just blaming men here 'and im not defending those who lies' but how about women ?!
They allowed it !
They believed it !
Ok you say most men whom you meet on a vacation in TR will lie to you just to have sex or get money from you.
So why would anyone give money,or have sex with someone they dont even understand what do they say ?!
Did i say '' if a woman can be cheated because she's naive, then it's ok to do that???? ''
İ thought i said,i dont believe women can be THAT naive, and i believe i said,if they are cheated that way, then because they allowed it !
And im not talking about stiuations who they can have good communications there,im too talking about the men at the resorts who say İ love you when they see you.
Because i dont really understand how would i believe someone who would say he loves me,and i cant know him, because i dont understand him, neither does he!
So,if i believed it,then im fooling myself yes.
İ agree with you here ''It takes two to make a relationship but it may take only one to ruin it''
Yes,it takes two to build a relationship, but what kind of relationship are we talking about ?
What does relationship means ?
Can you have relationship with someone you dont even know ?!
Well,'men are men all over the world'can means that too.
But i meant, women can deal with men in their own countries, and men in Türkiye are men too, they are not aliens !
So,they can deal with them too same way the do back home !
İ dont understand you catwoman, are you saying because we are in TC which is a site concerned with turkish so we cant talk about other nationalities and compair them with Turkish men ?
So we assume what Turkish men do,or behave is unique and we are not allowed to say its happening in other countries ?!

But the rest of the world you can't most of the time find that the person is lying to you until the end of the relation...(This is hidden lies) Soon as you have a doubt on someone you should ask yourself and find the truth but them they have doubts but they stay and do not ask themselves if it can be true because for them IT IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT THEIR MAN CAN DO THAT>>> ONLY THE OTHERS NOT THEIRS. : )

I hate to be the spoiler of this thread, but "NEWS FLASH" both women and men both LIE. I know alot of women who also cheat on their men. However, my observation is that men tend to think more with their _ _ c_s and women just want to be loved and taken care of.
Which brings me to a good question, why are Turkish women so faithful and honest? What happens in a marriage when the husband cheats on their wife? Does she leave him, try to work it out or just plain tolerates it due to money, housing etc.
I don't necessarily believe divorce is always the answer. But I would like to get some perspective on how Turkish women put up with the dishonest and cheating men in their country...and also how Turkish men put up with dishonest and cheating women?
Also, how in the world can foreign women believe they met their true love, soul mate at a resort for a week on a holiday.

Because they have no choice. Either they are uneducated or have no chance for a job. In Turkey you stand no chance, jobless and homeless. There is no sufficient social security provided by the government. What will they do? The choice between a warm and safe house or an unsure future is easily made.
I wonder what the chance is that a Turkish man would consider to marry a divorced woman, or how society looks upon her. That could be an important reason too.
Note however, that these situations showly are changing. The women get good university education too and they will be able to be financially independent. And the ideas on divorce will change too. I bet they have already changed from 50 years ago.

So we can restart thinking about the new history that began with September 11th who made that... The USA government did that... USA made those terroists starting from 1979 in Afganistan.. |
Oh serdar, terrorism has been around for centuries. Don't blame the Americans. The word "assasin" I'll point out comes from the name of an arabic tribe over a thousand years ago...

|
This is so true. I would hate to tell you how many guys I know with a second flat, 2 or 3 mobile numbers that their wife doesn't know about. And of course, more women in turkey are divorcing their husbands for cheating, but most still tolerate it and ignore it.

But it's no different here!! So many of my friends, myself included have gone thru this. Some of them choose to forgive, some NEVER EVEN SAID ANYTHING TO THEIR SPOUSE, and some of us packed up our "men" and kicked them to the curb. Most of us work and have great careers, kids, ect....I think it is too broad a subject to say how people will behave when this happens. I guess it depends on your circumstances and your tolerance.

keithl, these are main problem and misunderstandings.Im really against these opinion.foreign women in Tc probably met with wrong persons or Turkish men did same...and there is a certain belief in TC member that turks are interested in money, visa etc...it is not good to known like that.it is not good behavior to generalize all Turkish men...I have been to 13 European countries till now and met many ppl,girls...I travelled more than an european but have nver thought about visa etc....visa is easy for ppl who has job and good education in TR. we dont need anyone's official invitation for immigration....
in addition these, they always complain about TR men but they still interested in turkish men...they cant stop being away from TR men, why???
every person can have problem if they are from different nation,Finnish-spanish, jewish-british etc...but when they had problem it n not problem but if they had that problem with Turkish ,they behave like this is interesting...but we all TC members have to accept that being from different nations are one of the main problem in good relationship...so stop accuse of Turkish men and try to learn what u want, then decide if u can tolerate a Turkish men or not...

Well, in fact they did. In 1945 together with (mostly) British and Canadian soldiers they freed my country from Hitlers nazi's. For that I'm greatful - my German is awful....
It doesn't mean that therefor I like everything the US does, that I think we need to be on our knees or that I'm a fan of the Bush adminstration. On the contrary, I have in many cases a lot of critical comments. But you just cannot say that they are guilty of every rotten thing/war that is going on in the East/other parts of the world. My opinion on this subject is :
-Not all foreign women are naive (or should I say silly?)
-Not all women believe anything they read - example :
Stupid text messages like " Seni seviyorum , sensiz yasayamam " , "herseyimsin " when the person has met you one or two weeks ago ( extra point if it was on holidays or a bar)...
As the tittle of this thread says : Please WAKE UP! Do you think that someone can fall in love with you in 1 week?... do you think that if a man has serious intentions with you, would dare to declare his love in a couple of days??
Also :
I have never meet a turkish man in person but from what I have seen in nearly 3 years, they are (GENERALLY SPEAKING )
Very nice, hospitable, funny, sense of humor , some pay complimnets very quickly and yes , they can be very charming , some are very good-looking I have to say , manly accent ? yes ....this can be a dangerous combination for a "Naive" foreigner because what they think they love might not be the person but the EXCITEMENT of a new culture, exotic accent and as someone say, maybe she needs to feel somewhat "special" and men know what kind of words women want to hear ...and they know how to take advantage of that ... that's why I have seen - since I became a member in may, 2005 - the same messages and the same complaints over and over again :
"My boyfriend cheated on me" " I thought that he loved me" but the truth is that :
HOW BUT HOW can you say you love someone you CAN NOT EVEN UNDERSTAND???!!! If you cannot understand eachother...HOW CAN YOU LOVE EACHOTHER if love is sharing feelings, experiences, points of view together!!!!!!!!! if all you talk about needs a translation done by a 3rd person...what kind of communication do you have??????? this relationships are doomed to failure from the very beginning!!... LOVE and LUST are not the same and when I read most of the messages it is clear it is not love ....then women complaint they were used, cheated , left ...but why couldnt they see all of this??? ...
Of course, not all turkish men are desperate for a visa or want your money but I am tired of hearing bad comments about turkish men , so many people tell you to stay away or be careful with them , I think for a few bad ones, a big part of turkish males have been stereotyped in a big part of the world which is not fair...
Please , if some of the above written made you feel identified...WAKE UP! but do not think that all turkish men are the same!!
Just my humble point of view...sorry but some of the things I have read here really made my sick...I wouldnt call a 18-20-30 year old woman "Naive" ...

I find that a ridiculous thing to say. This is a site about Turkey, lots of posts now are coming on to insult turkish people and culture. If people feel this way about it, maybe they shouldn't come on a turkish site, rather than just come and offend people. To say that the people who offend with their stereo typical comments and jokes are acceptable, but the people who read them bring it on themselves is beyond comprehension.

I disagree with a person having a nick he is not fully aware of. And when he is asked about, he gets rude, as hurted in his feelings and tells you to get out from forum and site. Than becomes ironical and tells you you can go on.
More than that, i do not think that i, or some of us are really silly here.
Furthermore, i do not take much credit on a guy who PMs me i do not have a suitable nick, because i make him hungry during ramadan ...
And for the end, i would like to add that i still disagree with casual affairs. And that for a tango takes too. Both partners should change attitudes.
If this is offensive to Kirsty, Yuz, or Janissary... i just throwed the gloves! We could do the fencing sometimes this year in Cappadochia, probably.

I always feel that the ones who jump too high to defend themselves towards so-called 'offendings', act as if they have something to hide, and are really afraid it will come to day-light.
Terms as 'dont generalize', 'stereotypical', 'insults', 'they are not all like that' always make me feel that the ones who are saying this, are in the group who actually İS like that. Because if not, why bother so hard to defend something you should not feel insulted with in the first place?
When discussing a point, one can't do anything else but generalize from time to time. As long as everyone is aware of that, I see no harm.
No, people are not attacking ALL Turkish men, not ALL girls who have a summerlove are silly. But face it: this is unfortunately the general tendency of holidayresort workers versus young girls, seeking to be loved.

İf you read a thread about,English women,or Dutch women,American....ect
Are travelling to Türkiye seeking love,or causal afairs
Then you would find an apology saying, oppss, nope, not all the women.
Dont take it as generalizing !
Then you find same thread again with different title, but same point, and same opppsss

Well, isnt that how we all see things, through our own personal experiences? Isn't 'No I have a friend who..' a common arguement for 'defenders' to say that not all are that way?
I am in love with a Turkish man, but I do not feel offended when someone says that the girls who love Tyrkish men are naive. Simply because I know they have to generalize in the discussion and dont specifically mean my case. And I dont feel the need to defend myself, because I do not feel insulted.
I agree that such threads have become boring as there is no 'final conclusion'. But saying that 'not everyone is like that', doesnt deny that there ARE people who are like that. It is a common effect that a small group can ruin it for the bigger group, but asking 'what are you doing on this website' is not the way to change the impression. The way to change it, is to make the small group stop ruining it for the bigger group.

Canli, you must have read too much into this whole thing. Nobody is claiming anything about ALL Turkish guys or ALL western women. We were simply talking about those guys who have five different girlfriends and love all of them to the bottom of their hearts, who arrange five dates in a day to see who they can get laid with, who look for easy targets to get money from... etc. Of course some of those women are also guilty, but can we also criticize the guys for a moment and point out what's wrong with THEIR attitude???

Very well said, indeed. That's what I am thinking nowadays as well. I used to think that I was supposed to explain every single misinformation about Turkey here. But I soon realized that that would only make the situation worse. That looks really as If I were trying to hide something. Sometimes you have no chance than letting people what they want to believe. Jannisary is right, leave them doing whatever they like in this forum. Don't try to correct them, It would only be waste of time. Concentrate on the users that really want to learn Turkish, and spend your energy on teaching them Turkish.
Stereotyping people is sometimes inevitable, unfortunately. I totally agree on that. There're incredible stereotypical thoughts about foreign women in Turkey as well. Just look at that for instance:
http://sozluk.sourtimes.org/show.asp?t=ingiliz+kizlari
People like to stereotype people. We can't do so much about that in general.
But what we can do in this forum is that we can watch out the way we deal with the issues. You have full freedom to criticize the Turkish resort workers or Turkish people in general, but important point is HOW you do that. What is your motivation, do you have racist point of view? Do you explain every single thing with ethnic backgrounds? You said that we should face that truth, let's face another truth related to it: There're some users here who experienced a harmful relationship with holiday resort workers and who have strong negative feelings toward anything about Turks turned this forum into a platform for their hate speech against Turks, which is somewhat encouraged by the forum administration in the name of "freedom of speech."

Mature people dont do that !
So,if i have a bad experience with an Egyptian man,so all Egyptian men are bad ?
Then if i have another experience with a Turk,or Birt,or what ever, then i would lable all the people with my own experience ?
We take lessons through our personal experiences, but we dont lable
Lots of women here had bad experiences with Turk, then now they are married to another Turk,so i guess they didnt lable it,they just took lessons.

You dont feel offended, but other women do.
There was an attack in another thread for the women just because she is having a relationship with a Turk, and even the woman didnt complain about it.
Some women left here because of that,so that means they really felt offended about it.

I want to point out that the Turks here have shown exemplary generosity in taking time to translate for people they don't even know. In reward, "some" here insult, belittle, provoke and taunt. Didn't your family/culture teach you to show some appreciation for generous gifts?
I don't know of any other site that offers such selfless service to others. In my work, we often have to find short translations for requests in other languages. You can get a short message translated, anything longer requires $$$. I found this site looking for a translation for a short message sent to my company in Turkish. With the aid of the dictionary, it was translated.
The amount of translation available here, due to the generosity of the very same ethnicity that some can't seem to get enough of bashing is a tribute to the character of the Turkish people.
All I can say is, shame on you. You bite the hand that feeds you. It is to say the least very chauvinistic.

Friends , How many of you believe that the first organized and scientific university all the world was in Baghdad the Capital of Iraq 1000 years ago, so how Baghdad now after the US politics plans and invasion? is there any modren universities there?

Shame on me? Excuse me catwoman, what do you know about my personal religious affiliations, and what business do you have bringing them into this thread? What do they have to do with my comment? In the post you quote, I did not mention anything regarding Islam or my being an adherent to it.
Am I an American natural born citizen, or an immigrant? Do you know? I don't even have a public announcement as to what gender I am. What business is this of yours? And what does it have to do with my comment, or the thread in particular? Such information is personal and I am careful not to post such information in public and I do not appreciate you posting what I do not.
I wrote: "....In reward, some" here insult, belittle, provoke and taunt. Didn't your family/culture teach you to show some appreciation for generous gifts?....
The amount of translation available here, due to the generosity of the very same ethnicity that some can't seem to get enough of bashing is a tribute to the character of the Turkish people."
The feeling there is a lot of Turk bashing here is not only my opinion, it is an opinion posted here many times by many people. Many of whom are not Turks.
I read once that Omar Khayyam said it's best not to talk about one's religion, ones money or departure, I try to follow that advice to the best of my ability.

I'm not saying that I never say the wrong thing, but clearly you're not a saint either. I was guessing that you're a Muslim, but it doesn't really matter, even if you're not, your attitude is one of stereotyping and attacking and worsening conflicts not alleviating them - at least at certain situations of misunderstanding where it would especially be helpful. I'm sorry if I'm wrong about you, but I don't appreciate your angry attitude towards me.

its rather for you, because you listen to this proverb and keep silent because you dont know much on subjects at all and have nothin to contribute (therefore you are often silent),
its good you keep silent and learn from F_F |

THE DON JUAN LEDEND
In the legend, Don Juan either raped or seduced a young woman of noble family, and killed her father. Later, he encountered a statue of her father in a cemetery and impiously invited it home to dine with him, an invitation the statue gladly accepted. The ghost of the father arrived for dinner, as the harbinger of Don Juan's death. The statue asked to shake Don Juan's hand, and when he extended his arm, the statue dragged him away to Hell.
In Hell, the Devil meets Don Juan. The Devil tells him that everyone in Hell is cast in a role, and then presents him with a Jester's suit, telling him, "You'll make an excellent fool." Don Juan is insulted by this, protesting that no other man was his equal, "I am the man who made a thousand conquests!" Intrigued by that claim, the Devil tells him that if he can correctly name one conquest, he would not have to wear the suit. Thus began the parade of women. Not once could Don Juan name one correctly. Finally, one woman stands before him, tears on her face; "Yes," the Devil says, "this is the one woman who truly loved you". Helpless, Don Juan looks into her eyes, then turns to the Devil and says, "Give me the suit".
Where is the suit???

One day a wolf found a sheep's skin. He wrapped himself in it and sneaked into a sheep pen. He ate a lamb. He was sneaking up on a second lamb when the shepherd caught him.
"Don't throw me out," said the wolf.
"I'm one of your sheep."
"You're only pretending to be a sheep," said the shepherd.
"I'm no fool. I know you're really a wolf."
"How do you know?" asked the wolf.
"I look like a sheep."
"You say you are a sheep," said the shepherd,
"but you act like a wolf."
The shepherd pulled a limb from a tree and beat the wolf with it. The wolf
leaped the fence and climbed a nearby hill.
He never went back to the sheep pen.

The essence of topic was why some western woman give such an easy credit to compliments.
And we concluded that some of them -us- are naive, thus confusing love with infatuation
or
Quoting kafesteki kus:
perhaps it is because men in Europe lost their ability to worship a woman being concentrated on making career or something else...
|
.
This above is criticising made by us, westerners, towards us, westerners. Aren't we the dance-mate of Dudu? And it it critisizing toward Dudu, the one that gives compliments and promises on a such short account. We talked about our... to say so weeknesses also. Why are you offended? Furthermore, why do you think this forum generalises? I generalised western women so it can be more evident. (hope you will appreciate it as an elegant gesture )
I think that sweet-talking does no good for either of those involved, the man or the woman.
When/if readed, this forum's posts could make some of the people reading it think about how to avoid such experiences, or to learn that it takes more than a compliment or a hot romance to have a long lasting relationship that brings happiness. If a long lasting relationship is needed. Tourism affairs might be a phenomena that some of women western woman can be trapped in. But that will affect their whole experience about that trip, won't it?
Life is not so long, we have to live it, but the shortness of life is no excuse for the way we live it.

You assume she is scared , you are still oblivious that your posts are offending people regardless of people telling you so. If a girl falls for a guy in a tourist resort, believes his words etc, that's up to her. Making mistakes and getting hurt is part of growing up. However, if you are seriously concerned about the girls who are being lied to and cheated on, couldn't you tell them in private. Bearing in mind, that this could upset them, and also be damaging to what could actually be a genuine relationship. If you want to tell them what tourism guys can get up to etc. , isn't there a better way than just writing post upon post about how the girls are silly and naive etc?

Kirsty you crack me up!!! Here you are lecturing Femme about such comments being offensive to Turkish men and potentially damaging to the girls in love with them, when in the past it's been your favourite subject!
Just a few of Kirsty's comments about TURKISH MEN!!! (Note, she doesn't even say tourist workers!)
Quoting Kirsty:-
"i worry about how many girls on here fall for the turkish guys because of their romantic words. they are clever and need you most of the time. so many turkish men learn these words before they meet the girl, but girl can hear them and fall for them, but after long time married, very changed. i just like girls understand, is not so easy to fall for someone and you not really know them"
"i know you can fall in love quickly but thats pushing it a bit, especially talking about marriage and especially when it comes to a turkish man, be careful"
"couldnt help but notice the girls who said about not having arguments say they are their boyfriends, just wait until the ring is on your finger. nearly everyone in my life is turkish now, and i have seen them ALL change after marriage".
"dont be fooled by the romacing of the turkish man. ask some people who have been married to a turkish man over here for a while, ask them what its like really. im sure they will all tell you the same if they are honest".
"What do Turks think of Australian Girls...they think they are a ticket to where they want to get to. "
"so many girls on here seem to think its a compliment that their turkish boyfriend is jealous, when most of the time they just want to control you , most of the time they need you , not want you".
"they are sweet and romantic and nice until they have you, and they have what they want and need. ask any girl who is married for a while to a turkish man over here, if shes honest she will tell you. its best to be honest and hear it real before you are caught in a web. ask anyone whos been married for a while, they will tell you what they are like and how before they used to be the sweetest romantic lovely boyfriend".
"Turks say i love you as easily as we say hello. its easy for them."
"I dont want to dampen your love life, but there are a lot of young girls who are wanting translations from their Turkish boyfriends. But their stories are the same, met on holiday he wants to be with you for ever after a short while. Even most of the messages they are all sending and getting translated on here are the same as the other guys. Girls, I'm not saying it's not love, I'm just saying be careful!! "
"But I am saying that there are an awful lot of Turkish men who are using girls to get a visa and to be careful."
I got bored now - there are hundreds of such comments!!!

Quoting AEnigma III: Kirsty you crack me up!!!

The difference is, Kirsty is not laying into these girls, she is giving the informed opinion of a woman married to a Turkish man. |
So you mean Lady, that we should marry in order to be able to be the most informed as possible on this subject? And let us do not to conclude anymore only on the basis of these never-ending and constantly repeating "love"-stories? In other words, if i talk about birds, should i have wings? Or if i conclude upon car accidents you mean i really should have one just to describe it more lively?

this is something totally new to me i didnt know its so dangerous out there
if it is not true please, dont send out false info about turkey! |
Since you seem to care about mislead information and absurd thoughts about Turkey, occasionally make sure that your mouth is also closed. |
my mouth is never closed
and i think we are entitled to tell the naive girls about turkish cannibalism!
girls, pls, be careful, and dont get eaten at dark nights in istanbul the best time to visit turkey is ramadan!
but make sure you get out of the country as soon as ramadan ends! |
OMG you forgot to mention that as long as the sun is up you are safe!!!!
