Quoting portokal: the story goes that she forgot she put the biscuits in her purse. maybe it is good to check out more posibilities before speaking 'up'.
this situation, while waiting in a VIP room at the airport could be most probably an outcome of a mistake, rather than the unpleasant surprise of meeting a rude, impolite person or a hungry bumper.
if we continously spot abuse in minor things we risk to loose flexibility and not to distinguish real abuses. or we can become to tired by all those minor struggles and unable to face it properly. or worse, we can become abusers. which, in my opinion, equals with loosing a battle.

Beautiful, thanks....another way to look at is is why not share your cookies anyway? If the man was hungry for the cookies, let him eat them and be happy you have something to share.
It reminds me of some small little "native" eating places (nontouristic places) in Fez, Morrocco. Men would take places at long tables, they would split their food and put half of it at the end of the table. Later, little boys came in, sat down and ate the food at the end of the table.

This is a rip off of a wonderful Roald Dahl short story (I forget the name of it) about a businessman on the train and a packet of cigarettes (replacing the cookies!). It hilariously ends with the man getting so annoyed he breaks up every single one of the remaining cigarettes before getting out of the carriage and realising HIS are still in his pocket

Quoting MrX67: Quoting Elisabeth: If she would have said something to him like, "HEY GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY COOKIES", then he could have told her that they were his cookies and then she would have apologized. I think the lesson here is SPEAK UP WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE! People are to busy trying not to look bad or say the wrong thing or be impolite...that is my take on it anyway. |
would you not feel regrefull after got his kind answer or you would not be embararsed after his kindly answer??? |
My point is that I would have said something instead of getting mad. My other point is .... so many times we are passive aggressive because we think we shouldn't say anything. If people would just speak up when they are angry or feel bad about something, they would avoid having to feel guilty. Do you think the woman was any less embarrased by not saying anything? If she had spoken up, she would have had some resolution and had the opportunity to apologize.

I tried to imagine what I would do or say. I think I would have been shocked and said "You must be hungry" and laughed. Then back to eating my cookies..
