Mozart wrote his Turkish March....I think it is pretty well liked in Turkey. I am not sure how classical music is viewed on a whole.

Not sure if it is called something different elsewhere but I have always known it as Turkish March.

I appreciate classical music, where is my bonus?

Here is my list of favourite composers:

Chabrier
Falla
Liszt
Brahms

For example when writing this I am whispering the melody of El Amor Brujo by Falla.

Actually I don't understand YOUR post portokal!!! The thread asks a question, and Catwoman was giving her opinion.

Are you saying that only you and Roswitha were going to post on this thread?

basically, yes it was me and her. and since i know a few turkish who like classical music (wanna details? ), catwoman's opinion might have looked strange.

Just wanted to thank Portokal and Roswitha for the fabulous links here. There are hardly any stations that play classical music now.

There is one station here that plays very interesting and innovative classical music, but it's only on Saturday night...after the Turkish Cultural Program KUSF 90.3FM

Don't forget Carmen, La Traviata and Tosca, Rigoletto

La Traviata is probably my favourite. I saw the Welsh National Opera perform it last year - and as usual left crying my eyes out!!!

Even opera haters surely can't fail to be moved by Amami Alfredo...
