Believe it or not...I have no idea of what article you are talking about and I don't have time to wade through all the posts here to find whatever you are expecting me to comment on.
edit
Hmmm...on investigation you mean the lead post in this thread?

Your interest in my opinion is appreciated, however I have very limited time to post, unlike some who appear to have more generous allotments of time to devote to posting.

As to the article. If you noticed, it's a very long article that covers a lot of issues that can not be discussed in one or two lines.

IOW it will take a lot of analysis and thought to contribute a meaningful response. When I get the time, I'll comment, OK?

Oh grow up Sera! With your strange version above of "pot calling the kettle black" I would remind you that I am not the one whining about "personal attacks"

As to why I post links, they are posted for reference. As to the article, it had no link for verification. I did manage to find out who the author was and what credibility he has. I found this.

As to his article, what is there to say? It is in essence an opinion piece. I am not an expert of the sexual practices in Istanbul (or Turkey for that matter) and I have absolutely no interest in peeping through the keyholes of others personal lives to comment on their private consensual and age of consent practices. In fact I find this obsession with sexuality a vulgar and offensive practice.

As to categorizing people as "Gay" or "Straight" or whatever. That appears to come out of the "Christian" traditional disdain of sexuality which seems to foster obsession with sexual matters. That is not a surprise as sexuality is held in contempt as Christianity esteems Monasticism as a preferred state.

The Virgin/Whore analogy is also a Christian influence. The Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene. If such ideas and traditions exist today in Istanbul, they are probably left over from the earlier Byzantines.

Monasticism is considered unhealthy and abnormal in both Jewish or Islamic traditions.

Mary Magdalene
http://www.thetruthaboutdavinci.com/faq/mary-magdalene-term.html

Brown’s treatment of Mary Magdalene is sheer delusion. In The Da Vinci Code, she’s no penitent whore but Christ’s royal consort and the intended head of His Church, supplanted by Peter and defamed by churchmen. She fled west with her offspring to Provence, where medieval Cathars would keep the original teachings of Jesus alive. The Priory of Sion still guards her relics and records, excavated by the Templars from the subterranean Holy of Holies. It also protects her descendants—including Brown’s heroine.

Although many people still picture the Magdalen as a sinful woman who anointed Jesus and equate her with Mary of Bethany, that conflation is actually the later work of Pope St. Gregory the Great. The East has always kept them separate and said that the Magdalen, “apostle to the apostles,” died in Ephesus. The legend of her voyage to Provence is no earlier than the ninth century, and her relics weren’t reported there until the 13th. Catholic critics, including the Bollandists, have been debunking the legend and distinguishing the three ladies since the 17th century.

Brown uses two Gnostic documents, the Gospel of Philip and the Gospel of Mary, to prove that the Magdalen was Christ’s “companion,” meaning sexual partner. The apostles were jealous that Jesus used to “kiss her on the mouth” and favored her over them. He cites exactly the same passages quoted in Holy Blood, Holy Grail and The Templar Revelation and even picks up the latter’s reference to The Last Temptation of Christ. What these books neglect to mention is the infamous final verse of the Gospel of Thomas. When Peter sneers that “women are not worthy of Life,” Jesus responds, “I myself shall lead her in order to make her male.... For every woman who will make herself male will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
