Quote: I know there are lots of Turkish girls' who wish to be more european yes,Lots of them want to make their hair lighter and wear glue/green contact lenses. That could be something to do with popular culture and its influnce as far as what is seen as desirable.I just get the feeling that they like to make fun of European girls' because they want to be more like them, and they are not, simple really.
|
I not agree what u said about Turkish woman want to be more european way..what??they wear green contact lense..come on!!mostly their eyes color are blue or green. I dont think they are insulting european girl, they are mostly friendly and generous,i think just u get insulted from them.Even i am Asian, once i at there, there are so respect,is not what u said laughing and insulted. And 1 more things, i notice that european girls go turkey is not only for holiday..i think they also thirsty for something else which they can get from turkish guys(i not mean all european girls).i dont think Turkish ladies want to copy european or want to be european,(the way their dress,..) they have their own amazing culture and natural beauties.

Quoting Aslan: ...I think we should be careful when we generalise about human beings...or we may end up judging people that we don´t know anything about... ...that is just my humble point of view...
...and the way one generalises and judges others show more of oneself than it show how other people truelly are... |
Yes you are right. But what we give here, and in many other topics as well,is our opinion and point of view. Of course nobody implies or thinks that whatever we say concerns all turkish society. Even one family's members are not behaving similarly. How can a whole nation?

Of course i am not saying that what i have suggested goes for all Turkish girls as that could be a clearly ridiculous generalisation!
I am simply saying that in my experience Turkish girls are influenced by western music and popular culture as well as their own.I can only speak from what i know and to me it seems that they wish to make themselves look more european (whatever that may be)in some cases.
I did not state an opinion on which kind of beauty was 'better' because i don't think like that.I do however think that some Turkish women are incredibly beautiful and so are some european or western women. Its takes all sorts as i know most of you will agree. Not everyone will find the same face attractive and maybe one could suggest that it is a case of the grass is always greener on the other side if you will.

I don't know you, therefore I can't judge you Sera, neither do I know enough British girls, in fact I've never met one personally.
But have you ever thought the reactions or behaviours you got from turkish girls might be because of you or your british girlfriends as well? Maybe, you behave in a way that looks so eyecatching to some people. You know every country has a different culture, moral values or whatever. I can comment on turkish people, turkish girls and boys particularly as well. There're ofcourse bad sides of turkish girls, but these things are because of social things, the european image has a lot of effect on our life, and some people look really worse and funny while managing to be like an european. But I don't think turkish girls are not friendly to european girls. I don't know what you did to try to understand them, try to see how they are, except hanging around in a bar or in a club.
Additionally, I've met some french people, and they told me that British people are an exception and try to be an exception in the european culture. They told me that they were different. But it's better not to have any prejudice.
From what I've heard also, there are a lot of slang british people going to a touristic place, hanging around behaving in a slang way, drinking a lot, dressing inappropriately etc.
But I can make such a criticize. In Turkey, the club-disco culture hasn't still very adopted, and settled down. So, there are a lot of (let's say bitchy and unqualified girls that go to places like that.
And one more thing, turkish modernlooking women cares about how they look very much. They really care for their make-up, hair etc. and follow the fashion very much, which I find sometimes too exaggerated. And I've heard that Britsh women dress a bit badly And, you know when people see someone unlike them, they make fun of.
But you should know some turkish girls more closelt in a meeting in a different atmosphere to make a real generalization.

If you read my last post, the first thing i said was that i didnt want to make a generalisation!
And yes your right you don't know me or any other british people for that matter so some might suggest you are some what unqualified to speak with such opinion on this topic! However i do understand what you have said and to a certain extent i agree. There is a certain percentage of british girls who behave in a way i find particularly unapealing and often make idiots of themselves.I however do not do this,i have many Turkish friends both male and female so i know what i am talking about.I do think though that whatever country one wishes to mention there are always going to be a certain amount of people who do not represent the rest of the country well whist on holiday in a foreign country or indeed at home.
I would like to think that i behave well whilst i am in Turkey, simply wanting to have a good time isnt a crime.I don't drink excessivly or behave inappropriately yet these things still happen.I suppose whatever any person does there will always be another willing to comment upon it as you have demonstrated well.

I am maybe unqualified to speak on this subject as well, me being old man but I find myself agreeing with a lot of what Leann and mltm were saying.I know most of the British holidaymakers behave properly but you do get a few (boys& girls)who seem to go over the top. I think the Turkish girls looks and behaviour are second to none.I would also add that I have a lovely 14 year old granddaughter whose father is Turkish.

dont you think that the older generations should just accept what turkish girls have now become? or do you think they should still hold onto their traditional morals?
