I borrowed this film from a friend so I´m not sure about ´Mutluluk´ - but other Turkish films I´ve watched have had a choice of subtitles - English, German and French usually.

The following may be of interest to Turkish learners. It was my home work, (and has been corrected).

Be warned, if you haven´t seen the movie, some of the story is disclosed by the following text. I highly recommend the movie. It is available with English sub-titles. Smile

Mutluluk – Bliss

Dramatik filmi, Mutluluk’u beğendim.

I enjoyed the dramatic film Bliss.

Bu film, üç insan ve onların yaşam seçimleri hakkındaydı.

This film was about three people and their life choices.

Filmi, Türkiye’de, 2007’de yaptı.

The film was made in Turkey in 2007.

Zülfü Livaneli’nin aynı adlı romanından uyarlanmıştır.

It was adapted from Zulfu Livaneli’s novel of the same name.

Filmi için Livaneli ayrıca müziği besteledi.

Livaneli also composed the music for the film.

Özgü Namal (Meryem), Murat Han (Cemal) ve Talat Bulut (Irfan) ana oyuncular.

Ozgu Namal (Mary), Murat Han (Jemal) and Talat Bulut (Irfan) are the main actors.

Açılış sahnesi çok güzel.

The opening scene is very beautiful.

Bir dağ ve gölde mükemmel yansımasını gördük.

We saw a mountain and a perfect reflection on the lake.

Bundan sonra solda, uzakta koyunlarıyla bir çoban seyrettik.

After this to the left, we watched in the distance a shepherd with his sheep.

Ama sonra aşağı baktığımızda ve göle yakın yerde bir kiz keşfettik.

But then we look underneath and next to the lake we discovered a girl on the ground.

Onun adı Meryem ve ona kötü birşey oldu

Her name is Mary and something bad happened to her.

Bir çoban köye onu taşıdı.

The shepherd carried her to a village.

Meryem’in ailesinin şerefi devam ettirmesi için Meryem ölmelidir.

To keep Mary’s family’s honour Mary must die.

Meryem kendisi asmak istemiyor.

Mary did not want to hang herself.

Bunun için Cemal Meryem’le İstanbul’a gitti.

Because of this Jemal went to Istanbul with Mary.

Cemal’ın askerlik arkadaşı onlara yardım etti.

Jemal’s army friend helped them.

Onlar Irfan’la tanıştılar.

They meet with Irfan.

Irfan’ın yatında onlar Irfan’la beraber calışıyorlar.

On Irfan’s yacht they work together with Irfan.

Sonunda Cemal Meryem’e aşık oldu.

Eventually Jemal falls in love with Mary.

Ama Meryem’ın geçmisi hakkında, Cemal berbat gerçeği duyar.

But Jemal hears the aweful truth about Mary’s past.

Actually I thought it was a bit weak. The dramatic twists in the life of the characters wasn´t displayed as much as it could be if you ask me. They say the book is very good though.

I must admit it was the scenery and music that impressed me the most. Smile
