I don't believe anyone considers you narrow minded. However, from what I have read, your posts seem to mostly include references to your own political ideals and seem somewhat nationalistic. For some, this can be hard to stomach...
The day everyone agrees on politics is the day the world ends |
Janissary is a Turk so is it something strange that he refers in his post to national history and heritage.Nationalistic????Perhaps patriotic???Ahhh,everybody who is proud of his own country must be a nationalist and ksenophob I forgot how easy is to judge..and for those who have problems with digestion...herbs...herbs...herbs

janissary, if your purpose is just to celebrate why dont you just say, "Happy 23rd April!!"
-because, as u mentioned in your first post, if it is an international celebration many parents of the world, and of course the ones using tc (cos their children are supposed to celebrate it too) would know what you mean by 23rd April...
-and the ones who didn't understand what u mean by 23rd April festivities could just search and learn about it (if they were interested).
-still that you wrote and informed people about it is ok... even it would be a kind gesture by you. but if u ask me, your text has some drawbacks and involves inconsistencies;
such as: it is a gift given to children of the world by Ataturk, so children of other nationalities needn't join the Turkish children while they cry out, "Ne mutlu Türk'üm diyene" do they??
are children from different nationalities here today to bless the Turkish nation or to enjoy making friends and learn about other cultures...
PS: this isn't an aggressive post involving hatred!

I see 23 posts here, only one is critical with some critism from a Native Turk. Who are "they" who converted it to politics? Who are the same members?
I think it is a rather nice idea, to celebrate children as they are the future of any country, to celebrate children and allow them to be chilren with games, free entry to fun parks, day out somewhere fun and lots of icrecream with trickster fez wearing icecream sellers!.

happy children day...There is no place called ''kurdish area'' in Turkey...all part of Turkey is called ''Turkey''...if u wanna see any place called ''kurdish area'', go to Northern part of Iraq...
This day was presented to innocent children of the this dirty world...instead of criticising this post,u should celebrate, and remember of all children.

I hope that children have fun today.All

Why all this fuss to turn my original post into something it's not?
The general picture today does not vary from any other day except the flags everywhere; children play their usual games on the streets in front of their homes. Sure there organized shows with costumes and dancing, but their purpose, sadly, is false. http://www.turkishclass.com/picture_11520
In my initial post I simply wanted to direct attention to the rights of children, because it has been neglected on this day - their day. Why were we the only ones on our block to buy sweets and dedicate time to them, with all the effort in putting posters and flags up, one would think the municipality would have time to organize some kind of fun and games for them. Anything goes, or if not, they should just change it to Ulusal Egemenlik Bayramı instead of leading everyone behind the light.
On a side note I have nothing against Atatürk AT ALL, he was a fine leader, but I strongly oppose the way people today steal focus of something that is very important. Enough politics already, today is children's day, a lighter spirit would suit it much better.
