Historians know that the Turk Hun Empire ( 400 ) ruled the interior Europe during the Rome Empire, and the Turk Ottoman Empire (1300-1922) ruled the Eastern Europe and Balkans for 400 years.
Historians know that the USA used the Ottoman Empire as a model.
And historians know that TÃœRKİYE was the first country to allow woman to vote in the world.
Turks were already from the Europe...

Turkish "historians" should check their facts!!!!
New Zealand was the first country to allow the women's vote... in 1893!!!! The UK was actually BEFORE Turkey - so I wonder where you got this "fact"? School? ;

I think Turkey doesn't need to join into EU, but many things must be change in Turkey, because these applications are not so good. Only when you say "we must take the standarts of EU" these changes can be possible right now. For that reason, the struggle of joining EU makes a positive effect to Turkey. But sure, Turkey doesn't need any advantage of EU. Just the standarts, like laws, applications, living styles etc.

I agree with you. Yet I think it would be good to have Turkey in the EU, for both sides.
I've heard about the sevres-syndrome, do you think that plays a role in the public opinion of TR for not wanting to join EU, out of a fear that the western countries will try to divide Turkey?

That page talks about "right to vote". What about "right to be elected"? Our date includes both. Maybe in that criteria we are ahead of many (not sure if we were the first in the world though).

Although New Zealand was the first country in the world to accord the vote to women in 1893, South Australia led the world in not only enfranchising women in 1894 but also making them eligible to sit in Parliament.
You were not the first in the world in that criteria but must admit that if Muslim world is taken into consideration you were the pioneers.Due to Ataturk and his ideas of equality.

Coming back to the topic Turkish membership in EU would give people ability to travel without any limits(well,perhaps financial but who does not have them).

Should TÜRKÃYE join the EC (European Community)?
Michel ROCARD (Former Premier of France) wrote a book on Türkiye.
This book published this month.
His book´s title is "Oui a la Turquie".
ROCARD, in his book, with his friend, Marti AHTÃSAARÃ (Former President of Finland), (Nobel Peace Prize Winner in 2008), says "Türkiye will join the EC in 2023.

Turkey doesnt need EU.
All it can really bring is loss of the cultural beauty of Turkey. Sure there are some good programs that EU offers but also many of them make no bigger difference to simple citizens and brings no bigger (good) changes in their lives, if any at all.
In my personal opinion EU is really only sth what may sound nice, as union but infact its just bunch of countries where each wants more for themselves taking care of mostly their own business.
Look at Italy, well they got really "great" results of joinng this "great" union, many of them can barely afford their beloved pasta  and from what I know they got more problems since they have the new european currency.
What more? Maybe that prices go up while noone talks about raising salaries.
Sure in the end maybe Turkey or any young partner of EU will become 2nd Ireland but this may take like 40 years, so good luck with that.
Noone can expect huge changes for years if any at all and Turkey like many other countries can work on its policy and problems without trying to reach EU standards.Citizens know what they need, what they have to work on, its all up to us, people and lets not hide, the gov which stinks in again most of countries 
These are all politics and its always a sticky and dirty thing.
With these optimistic words comes the end of my little opinion
One thing is sure, even if in enourope there are some wrong opinions about Turkey and its citizens, those who ever had a chance to visit Turkey and meet turkish people just love it .
